I have made myself a sensory book since I have so much free time on my hands. I cant it's not finished yet, but here's what I have so far. I used crap I found around my house, it's all in a HUGE binder. I also stole some of mom's new dish rags she knitted, she used really good colors and and texture is amazing. I cant wait to take this on car rides on the way to vaction or soccer!

well it's going to include a pencil pouch or something like that with sunglasses, earplugs, handwipes, chewing gum, and my MP3.

this first page my little sister made, it kind of bothers me, but she really wanted to help.

second page is my nine favorite i spy game cards. I love how they are dark and shadowy

third page is the first texture one. The top foam square is facing up the rough side, the bottom one is showing the smooth side. This one is my favorite.

fourth page is a thank you card put on some yellow paper.

fifth page has a cute little bird on it, I also like the varyinng shapes and colors. The check marks are cool too.

sixth page is a cut up party bag on some pink paper.

seventh page took me forever! this one is also for touching. It has some freaky pipe cleaners i hot glued on, which are really soft. And on the other side i stapled this really soft yarn, you can lift the strings on run your fingers through them. In the middle is a strip of sand paper (i love touching rough things) to neutralise the feeling of too much soft.

last page is foam rectangles that i covered in different types of fabric, they all feel the same. I love how each one looks different put the are the same suishyness.
LOL this is the first page...piece of shit

Very cool idea.  Mom and Hrick
heh...well i was bored and i make f***tarded expressions...and I mean ALL the time, So yeah.
I love the idea of a sensory book!  I wouldn't be able to look at it on car rides, though, because I get carsick unless I am looking out the window.

Now if I were going on a car trip and wanted to carry one thing with me for its texture, I would want it to be a cold raw shrimp, or preferably an exact, temperature-controlled artificial reproduction of one.  (A real one would stink up the car after awhile! Tongue )  A few months ago in my food service job, I peeled a whole pan of raw shrimp, recently defrosted and therefore refreshingly cold, and the rubbery texture was addictive! Cool
That's awesome!
Hmm, I wonder if really large-grain sandpaper would work for me....  I adore running my hands over rough walls, particularly bricks.  I do it with other surfaces, too, like chain-link fences or clothes hanging from a rack, but rough walls are best.
Once, a girl I don't much like caught me standing against a wall, running my hands up and down it and pressing my palms into it.  She was really feaked out (I appear pretty much normal most of the time, so this behavior seems out-of-place to people who don't know me well) and it was quite funny, in an embaressing kind of way.
I wonder if this idea would sell.  Having variously-textured things to touch all the time would really help a lot of kids with ASDs calm down when they're freaking out.
Oh-
Soccerfreak, if you put pictures of the pages up on DevArt, we can put them in the AspieAuty gallery.  Smile

OOOOO!!!!!! NEATO!!! WHERE DO I GET SOME?!?!

There's gotta be fur! (Fur fabric, I mean).
Wow! I gotta make me something like this (I've been more 'conspicuous' at school lately, I feel - the kind of conspicuous where adults might get concerned).
BTW, I can't see any of the images. The idea is really cool, though.
