I felt the need to post this here - it's a comment made about this forum and site by the owner of the "Hating Autism" blog, and bluntly I think it needs to be aired so we can show this idiot how wrong he is!

I think these people must be jealous because their parents are all too inept to help them. I'll bet most of them come from broken homes with drunks and drug addicts for parents. It seems that most of these people are teens with the exception of Timelord. So, one would have to discount their outrage as just youthful ignorance. These kids can't help it that they have idiots for parents. It's not their fault that nobody ever cared enough about them to try to help them recover from their disability.

I have to wonder what Timelord is doing trying to rile up a bunch of teenagers. Why would any adult start hanging around with teens? What do cops think about adults who become too chummy with teenagers?

I think most would agree that there are a large number of adult members here - for a start. I also think the reflection on member's backgrounds and the generalisation of that is reprehensible to say the least.

If anyone has any connections to any legal practitioners in the US who are prepaed to assist - I think it's about time someone shut that slanderous blog down. It's ability to abuse the first amendment boggles the mind!!

For the record, this comment was made after my commentary on this foru about callng in welfare to take charge of the man's son was reprinted on his blog.

He IS dangerous, Kylo. He doesn't have to be elected president - he'll get publicity by just nominating. That's a bad thing - and if he gets his anti government line off the ground.....I shudder to think of the consequences! On that alone he COULD get enough votes to influence enough people to make things really bad for us Aspies! He has stated that all ASD people should be "rounded up and cured".

I can't remember how I discovered the blog to be honest - I've known about it since late November last year.

He's nominated for the presidency, Max. You are severely underestimating him. Severely. The fact that people (and many people at that over the time I've known about the blog) post on there means that he IS known. And too well for my liking.

Woodpeace, don't start me on Droopy. As far as I can tell, she flatly refuses to acknowledge that adult Autistics do sometimes need others to speak for them. I need it myself right now because of certain things that have gone wrong lately due to the lack of understanding of this thing called Aspergers by those in power. It doesn't mean we're useless of course - but just occassionally we need support. Droopy seems to be rejecting that outright, and it's going to hurt her.

Mostly I'm glad to be out of school and puberty and all that crap -- although wouldn't mind being back at university.

So what was Ross Perot doing some time back, Max? Fooling around? Sorry - Best can run for president just as Perot did - as an independent. Have you forgotten about the victory a certain independent got for the governorship of Minnesota back in the late 1990's? Jesse Ventura - does that name ring a bell?

Just because Best isn't a member of either the Republicans or the Democrats doesn't mean he can't run for the office of President!

I went and looked at the blog just to see what this thread was about.

To be quite frank I couldn't be bothered doing more then scanning the 'front page' and that's five minutes that I won't be getting back.

Heck, it's entirely possible that a percentage of his replies are himself under different names and ghosted IP's (if it's even that sophisticated). A form of virtual BrassO if you will.

Certainly not an opinion I'd be paying attention to.

Max, you underestimate the infuence Best has. He's a "Rescue Angel" with Generation Rescue, and that lot are downright infuriating. And they have done nothing to shut him up probably because they agree with him.

He's too dangerous to be left alone as unimportant. Hitler was the same, and people in Germany DID try to silence him for the same reason. He would have risen to power a lot quicker than he did if they hadn't.

The biggest issue I have with him is that he is presenting as the public face of mercury poisoning (or the Mercury Militia as Kevin Leitch calls it) and that group holds back the understanding of ASD's that we all need. Their fight is diverting those who can help away from the issue at hand - sidetracking it and making things much harder for us ASD people.

Not to mention the issue of how he is treating his son!

I'm going to start a new thread now with some fresh news which I would hope you would all support.

Oh - and yes he is insane. He needs help and quickly. And the first thing he has to do is get off the computer bluntly.

Zakkie I would agree with you, except that he has a hidden support base that doesn't show on the blog. Generation Rescue. He's a part of that organisation. The fact that they don't silence him themselves is a major worry.

Now if Generation Rescue would kick him out, then that would alter things considerably!

The trouble is Generation Rescue has a lot of respect in certain sections of the media. For example, the last time the subject was brought up on The View. I didn't actually see it - but the concentration on causation (the fact that they had David Kirby - a well known ally of Generation Rescue founder Brad Handley) showed Generation Rescue influence.

But yes - I agree that if someone can turn Best into a liability for GR. The trouble is who will do it? I'm certainly in no position to do anything being on the other side of the Pacific Ocean! The most I can do is what I've done - alert as many people as I can to the danger he poses, and put material on my Wiki to show him in the bad light he deserves.

Well now that he has taken down his posts about running for President (the first real sign that he has pulled out - and about the first smart thing he's done since I've known him) that does actually appeal, Zakkie!

And go for it when you write in! It just might illicit a response from GR themselves!

It got a chuckle from me, QD. But I've already tried that - in a manner of speaking - and others instantly knew who I meant and jumped on it. And the whole thing broke down again. That's why I said the thing gets carried on by others - not me.

I've been advised to ignore them - and with good reason. I think it's about time they did the same thing, and ignored me if I upset them so much. Or at least just do what Wilky did on another thread (which resembled something I did on another forum a few years ago - and it worked a treat as well). That was easy to not respond to. I laughed at it.
