I've seen a few TV show threads, thought I'd start my own.

duh-duh duh-duh duh... Inspector Gadget

I watched it constantly as a kid... nothing could come between me and Penny. I would dream of a staircase that would be stairs going up and a slide going down... And Dr. Claw and his cat...

Feel free to share Gadget-love or your own favorite show as a kid...

Yea... I'm a nerd... but hey, guess what? so are you! Wink

Way too much sugar for sarah today...

I was also fascinated by the same show, for some reason.  I was one of those "fantasy boy" Asperger's and that show really fired up my imagination.  Wink

I loved that show as a kid, eh! I used to imagine that I could meet Penny and Brain.
I was fascinated with Penny's computer book.  Its form was exactly that of a hardback book with color displays, buttons, and readouts on every page - all as thin as regular paper.

I vaguely remember drawing a picture of it and writing a short description as some sort of creative assignment in elementary school.  I even thought about building a crude version of it by mounting a small calculator in a plastic pencil box such that the buttons would be on the base and the display would be on the lid with a flexible cable between them.

I never got around to it though.  I guess I was too busy removing the Styrofoam beads from my Water Pet and filling him full of rocks >:-)  He would float no more...

Anyway, I think building a true replica of Penny's book may actually be possible in a decade or two.  Paper-thin electronic displays are just now in their infancy.  But I won't be tackling that project.  I'd rather work on Back-to-the-Future hoverboard technology.
One kid I went to school with had a crush on Penny!
for me as i remember it was inspector gadget, sonic the hedgehog, a show about a giant totem pole that was made up of a bear, a turtle and an eagle but i can't remember its name and it's driving me crazy, the totem pole would come alive and protect this tribal leader type person, I also enjoyed the snorks, the smurfs and a show about these bears i think it was like gummy bears or ju ju bears or something oh yes and mummies alive
*grins* I loved the show! When I was 8 or so, I used to get exercise books and turn them into "computer books" - draw different combinations of screens and buttons on each page & work out what they'd do... I wish I still had some of them...
* sigh * Such a shame that the movie and new series so totally missed the point of the original.
I used to watch this all the time when I was little.
