Thanks for the link. That was fun. I got 10 out of 20.
Then I read the part about how one is supposed to tell the difference in smiles and went back and played them over and over to compare. I swear I can't see any difference in that under eyebrow area they ponted out between real and fake.

Is it just me or did anyone else judge who was faking it, not just by the subjects eyes, but by how quickly their smile 'dropped' without lingering for a second or two?
Yes i did that too. Not that it helped my score lol. When they moved their head around it was distracting and could probably increase a disguise

I got 20/20, but only because I've read up on how to distinguish real smiles from fake smiles in the past.

When people are talking to me I generally don't look at their faces so I probably wouldn't know if it was a sincere smile or not.
The fact that this test was videos instead of still pictures was helpful too, as mentioned before. I always score far below average on Baron-Cohen's Mind in the Eyes test, because all of those eyes look pretty much the same to me and I cannot infer as to what their emotions are unless I can see the whole face (and even then it's hard).
It helps a lot when I can see the face change and analyze how it moves in order to determine the proper emotion based on what I've studied.

15/20... next time when we fake our smiles, make sure to move the eyes too!

Here are the things I looked for in the real smiles:
1. The cheeks raise and creases form between the mouth and the cheek (it has a specific name but I forget what it is).
2. Wrinkles may form on the outer corners of the eyes.
3. Teeth will usually show (not always, but most of the time they will).
4. The nose tends to scrunch up a bit, tends to go with the cheek raising.
5. When people were getting rid of the smiles, the ones who were genuinely smiling often had trouble doing this smoothly. Some of them folded their lips between their teeth or accidentally started smiling again for a second.
6. Look at the throat - in a lot of the genuine smiles, you can see that the people are laughing. The fake smiling people will not laugh.

11/20, which I'd say is about right for me. I'm hopeless at reading facial expressions.
That test is so hard because in real life nobody ever goes from looking serious to smiling and back to serious within the space of 2 seconds! It's impossible!

15/20.
When it says "Most people are surprisingly bad at spotting fake smiles. One possible explanation for this is that it may be easier for people to get along if they don't always know what others are really feeling.", does that mean that all the above-mentioned results are higher than one would expect? Are Aspies therefore making their lives unnecessarily uneasy by having a good look at faked smiles?

I called them all fake because I am a pessimistic old (young) git

Weird--I felt pretty confident about it, but then ended up only getting 11/20
It would be interesting to see some neurotypical scores for comparison
