[font=Verdana]At least one child, maybe more, in the US has died after being chelated.  People into alternative health practices claim you can do a little of this (eliminate heavy metals) by bathing in a cup of baking soda mixed with epsom salts....

Maybe people cling to the vaccines theory because they can't stand the thought they might have some AS genes or something. Or lack of genes as one study recently found missing genes on certain chromosomes in autistic people.

I read recently that there IS a clinic in Russia giving certain proscribed (after blood tests) amino acids to autistic children via injection in such a way the brain/blood barrier is crossed/breached (probably an iv). You see you can take amino acid pills, but the gut will eliminate much of it. I know this as I take certain hormones (bioidentical) 'cause I'm menopausal and I know how the gut can eliminate (also the liver and kidneys) whatever you send down that way. Hormone creams and liquid drops under the tongue work much better. I can put on testosterone gel on my wrists and feel the effects (very subtle) after five minutes.

The above dynamic has opened my eyes to how pesticides probably work thru skin contact and it scares me. We need to go all green and fast! The problem is certain insects and bacteria have become immune to what we are able to throw at it. The AIDs virus is constantly mutating so we can't get a handle on it at all!

Also, in the US (probably due to pressure from the curebies) I think they recently started to examine slivers of deceased autistic brains, systematically, as they recently did for Alzheimer's patients, so maybe in a few more years they will know more.

Finally, examination of the amgydalla in autistic children (deceased?) indicated only 1/2 the neurons found typically in NTs. HALF. No wonder social anxiety is a problem. (The amgydalla handles fear signals, among other things.)

Sorry to throw all this scientific stuff out there without proper documentation
- it is what I remember after a couple of years of reading zillions of posts and media announcements!
I am mentally puking.

I think I've made a gigantic error here.

It's not that they're saying autism is genetic, i.e. inherited, I think they're saying it's genetic i.e. result of gene mutations, which plays right into the hands of the vaccine/pollution/what-have-you people.

VERY VERY SORRY!!!

(and hope I'm wrong)
OK, I'm not quite losing my mind.  I finally found the article, printed out this past Feb. 22, and lost in the to-be-filed area.

QUOTE:

Both AGP [Autism Genome Project] researchers Scherer and Buxbaum say their new study also shows environmental toxins are not, as some argue, a major cause of autism.
"The evidence suggests autism is over 90 percent caused by genes," says Buxbaum.

"As we find more and more genes for autism," he says, "I think it will begin to reduce some of the clamor that there's environmental causes for autism."

{Unfortunately, comments jewelie, here is the bad part . . . }

They hope that within 5 to 10 years, it will lead to drugs to prevent, fight and possibly even reverse autism.

I am quoting an ABC News article titled "Study Suggests Autism Causes Are Genetic" by Bill Blakemore, dated Feb. 18, 2007.

Sorry, that's for the printable version, I don't have the original URL.

This is the same article that I cited in post above:
"Largest-ever Search For Autism Genes Reveals New Clues"

Sorry I'm a bit frazzled today.
Hope this helps.
Anybody watch X-Men III?  Similar concept, but in Rogue's case it made sense (can't go killing those you love, can you)?
This is really staryting to make me annoy me!

As vaccines are designed to stimulate the immune system, there is nothing for the vaccine to stimulate. So it does no good.

Actually, this part at least is pretty sound.

All it is good for is to make plenty of money for the drug companies, the doctors who give the vaccines, and unfortunately, it seems to be a good way to create autism."

...But this part is crap.

Foods containing genetically modified organisms (gmo's) have been introduced into our diets in the same time period that autism rates have exploded. There may well be a connection...

Where is there any real evidence that autism rates have exploded? Curebies have yet to show me anything convincing that supports this claim. (I would say that they believe that "autism rates have exploded" simply because of statistics -- the definition of autistic has broadened, and he who casts the widest net will most likely catch the most fish!)

I am very excited to share with you some of the immediate results that your product Glutathione Pleolyposome has brought about in my four year old autistic son Corbin. The morning after I gave him the very first dose, he was intently staring me in the eyes unlike he had ever done before.

Ooh, and next we get into the home shopping channel....

Prior to this time he would give fleeting eye contact and would stare blankly into nothing (like day-dreaming), but didn't seem to focus on another's face. Now he seems to really focus on not only other's faces but also on everything else. I am guessing it is as if things are becoming clearer to him.

Boring infomercial crap.

On and on and on he goes. Where he stops, nobody knows...

I could go on and on about all of this

Please don't!

I am very confident that with continued use, my son will continue to find his way back.

Back? Where does this guy suppose he's gone?

There have been times when I have felt defeated and considered giving up, resigned to the fact that Corbin might not be able to advance much further. If I were to believe the medical community then I would have, but my son is too important for me not to keep trying to do everything possible (without risking his health) to assist him to become all he is capable of.

I thought chelation crap was risking kids' health.

...For what it's worth.

and it's for-sam all over again did someone clone him? *~*

This is a passed down thing. It is not caused by vaccence. Many people with autism have some euro orgins in there blood. Manely German.
This is the most unsound, blasphemic thing I have ever witnessed!
I have an 8 yr old autistic son in Savannah GA and just found out about Glutathione PleoLyposome. I hope to see results soon... by the way, I'm glad to hear about the good looks from your son... lets pray that it develops into words!
Obviously you do not have an autistic child. I hope you can at least attempt to understand those of us who do. If it was just a matter of spending more time with him, that would be great. If you had an illness, wouldn't you look for a cure? or would you just say,"I guess I'll always be sick?!?!?!"

I'm going to save a bit of time here - I suspect you've misjudged what this site is about when you joined up. You're more than welcome to hold an alternative viewpoint here, but you will not find many people receptive to hearing about it.

Have a look at a few of the threads here. You'll notice that the majority of us here are autistic, or have autistic partners or children, and do not consider ourselves or the people we love to be "ill".

Then have a look at the front page, and the aims of the site. Perhaps you'll see something that connects with you, or perhaps not. Either way, it will give you a better idea of what we do here.

Regardless of your viewpoint on the cure issue, if you'd like to learn more about how to help your child, and teach him to find his way in the world as he is, then welcome aboard.

If you'd like to respectfully disagree on threads where your opinion differs from the sites purpose, then that's fine too.

But if you use your time here to simply rant at others for not automatically assuming that autistic people are better off cured, then you will not be welcome here for long.

Whichever option you choose, I hope that some of the things said in this thread will offer some food for thought.

Take care,
- Zakkie

Well I'm autistic and so is my son.  I do not appreciate anyone telling about a "cure" when it quite obviously isn't an illness but is a very different way at looking at things compared to the majority of the population.

Till that is appreciated, your child will always have problems. You cannot fit a square peg in a round hole no matter how hard you try. It is easy, work with the tendencies not against them.

Actually you can so long as the diameter of the hole is greater than or equal to the square root of twice the length of one of the square's sides squared.  Try saying 'square's sides squared' ten times fast.

Sorry, I had to.  Seriously.

Man, 'how fast can you make it go' would definitely be one of my first 10 questions to a kid in a wheelchair.  Honestly I think the way you move in one is pretty damn cool.

One of the first books I read about autism last year was A Real Boy.  Talk about child-hating crap!  I was horrified by the things this mother did to make her child "normal".

What did she do? I'm curious.

Many people do not see autism as an illness- and yes, that extends to NT parents. It isn't all 'HFAs and aspies' as you may have heard.

If you don't see yourself or your kids as ill, you woudn't look for a cure, but you would look for acceptance and understanding.

Why are you here? Did you not understand what the site was for or are you promoting the pro-cure POV? I'm not going to flame you either way- I'd just like to be clear on your position.

I did get a bit cranky in that post.

And when younger so would I and add come on do a wheelstand. can I have a go? push 'em around in all sorts of crazy directions and other antics. and I'd probably strip it down for them and repaint it or fix it. But, seriously I fail to see why some people have a problem.
