Yeah I am. I absolutely love heavy metal, my music ranges from soft rock to heavy metal.
I love their later stuff more than their newer stuff. They are brilliant. I adore them.

Even if he was, that doesn't mean he's going to "hurt somebody".

I think Kerry King is overrated as a guitarist. Jeff Hanneman is better and is definitely superior as a songwriter. He wrote many of the band's best-known songs both by himself and vocalist/bassist Tom Araya.

For the record, my Top 5 favourite guitarists:

Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath)
Dave Mustaine (Megadeth)
Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen)
Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains)
Chuck Schuldiner (Death)

I see no Herman Li Tongue

I used to LOVE metal when I was a teenager. I liked thrash, speed, and so-called "death metal" such as:
Metallica
Pantera
Deicide
Cannibal Corpse
Iron Maiden(whom I STILL listen to to this day)
Queensryche
Dio
Venom

But for the most part Ive pretty much outgrown it(with the exception of 80s speedmetal). I always HATED "hair" bands with a capital H.
Maiden seem to be popular on the boards...

That's because Dragonforce sucks.

0.o but...the lightning fingers of....

Blasphemy! Tongue

yes, that is something that struck me as well. most of us seem to prefer Rock (inc. metal) or Classical.

Lucy, a song for you. Welcome!

Very good and well balanced orchestration.
Can I say that this way about metal?

I like Avenged Sevenfold, they're pretty good. Anyone listen to them? The Beast and the Harlot is one of my favorite songs, and it's on Guitar Hero II, and they've got a lot of other good songs. I like metal, most every kind, but I also like some very un-metal genres. Anyone know any good metal bands that are heavy on bass, or have any bass solos?
Well I hear it's tight most ev'ry night, atypical. But now, I might be mistaken, a-hm hm hm...
Heh, now I've got an Idea. That means a Thread. Ever hear of Guitar Hero, atypical? It's a game where you play a plastic guitar, as if you're a rock star, and it has lots of great songs. I'm off to start a thread about it somewhere.
Rock on, brother! Rock on!

Avenged Sevenfold isn't exactly metal. I pass them off as rock, but if you were to mention anywhere else with actual metal heads around that Avenged Sevenfold was an ounce of metal, they would have your head.

As far as metal goes, the focus is usualy with the guitar, the drums, or the song itself. It's rarely the bassed on the bass. But I have heard some Nevermore songs with catchy bass riffs in their older stuff.

If you want some hard rock with some awesome bass, you should check out some of Disturbed's stuff BEFORE their first album was released. Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjOdvTdRYS8. That link is to the old version of the song, recorded in 1998 or 1999, can't remember. They remade it recently, and you can find it on youtube, but it sucks compared the the old one Big Grin.

For me, my love of metal has been there since I was about 8 or 9, but anyway, here are a few of my fave bands:

Pantera
Arch Enemy
Godsmack
Kittie
Sepultura
Judas Priest
Puya
Korn
Anthrax
Motorhead
Spike 1000
Lacuna Coil
Cradle of Filth
Leaves' Eyes
White Zombie
Within Temptation
Slipknot
Iron Maiden
Tool
Living Colour
Nine Inch Nails

If there's any bands that I missed, Please let me know

You forgot all the greatest Grind bands (CODC being one of them), and you forgot Nevermore, Atrocity, Scar Symmetry. Oh no, I'm sorry, thats part of my list, haha.
