Metal has influenced me in so many ways it has remaind my favorite genre for a while.

Metal can always have motivational lyrics, or they can have in your face "fuck off" lyrics. And thats what I need lyricly when I listen to music.

Any other metal fan would know that there is so much more to metal than that, but I don't want to be the voice of such a powerful genre of music.

So... how many metal fans at this forum? \m/
I knew I was forgeting something. I forgot to tell you some of my favorite metal bands.

In no particular order:

Disturbed
Lamb of God
Melovine
SOAD
Sepultura
Pantera
Stone Sour
Nevermore
Behemoth
Azterion
Korn (pre Follow the Leader)
Children Of Bodom

And thats not even half of it Tongue I'll name a few more later.

But I am glad to see a few people here who enjoy this genre.
Has anyone here ever thought of joining a metal band? Or starting one?
Mosh pits are the best thing when people that know about metal are in them. The people that are there just to mess stuff up and not give a crap of others = pricks. I never been in a good (lasting) or bad (prick filled) mosh pit, but I have seen a few and I heard plenty of stories (if I could only afford concert tickets).

I know this thread is soposed to be about metal, but what are your views on hardcore dancing. Personaly, I don't mind if it's kept at harcore concerts. But if anyone brings that to a metal concert, I'll be one of the people to show them a real mosh pit. They can leave with bruises and knowledge to never dance like a moron faking a (I might mistake spelling here) seizer at a metal concert.
I've been in many, many mosh pits in my life.  Two notables are at a Nine Inch Nails concert (Further Down the Spiral tour - a guy broke his leg 30 seconds into the first song), and at a Pantera concert (VDoP tour - I got a black eye and fat lip, but you should have seen the other guy!).  Ozzfest 2002 was good also (non-violent pit).

As for favorites, in no particular order:
All the fathers of metal (i.e. Ozzy, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, etc.)
Alice In Chains
AC/DC
Van Halen (not Van Hagar)
KMFDM
Rammstein
Engines of Aggression
Motley Crue
L.A. Guns
Nirvana
Skid Row
Biohazard
Godsmack
Nine Inch Nails
Metallica
Rage Against the Machine
Rob Zombie/White Zombie
Pantera
Guns n' Roses
Anthrax
W.A.S.P.
Holy crud!  How could I forget KISS?!?
Or like that one guy that threw a bottle at David Draiman (lead singer of disturbed) during a song. The band finished the song, and then David told the guy over the mike that he was a F***ing P**sy, and then told the guy to get up on stage so David could "beat his ass".

That was the best video I ever saw Tongue

Dude I love metal. Many people perseve us as bad, but were just ordinary people. Also here are some of my favorate guitarists

Kerry King
Jimmy Page
Slash
Eric clapton

Kerry King knows his riffs for sure. I'm sure it's like 2+2 for him, he is genius.

Have you ever heard of Jeff Loomis? If you like those guitarist, then Jeff Loomis can surley become another favorite of yours Big Grin

I used to LOVE metal when I was a teenager. I liked thrash, speed, and so-called "death metal" such as:
Metallica
Pantera
Deicide
Cannibal Corpse
Iron Maiden(whom I STILL listen to to this day)
Queensryche
Dio
Venom

But for the most part Ive pretty much outgrown it(with the exception of 80s speedmetal). I always HATED "hair" bands with a capital H.

I liked how you used the phrase "so-called" when refering to death metal. None of those bands seemed to be real death metal.

Circle of dead children or Deeds of Flesh is where its at for death metal (though, circle of dead children seems to be more on the grind side with some of their songs)

AC/DC
Van Halen
KMFDM
Motley Crue
Nirvana
Skid Row
Godsmack
Black Sabbath
Celtic Frost
Lizzy Borden
Meat Loaf
Megadeth
Poison
Scorpions

Nine Inch Nails
Metallica (to Black Album)
Rage Against the Machine
Guns n' Roses
Anthrax
W.A.S.P.
Christian Metal--- (it happens....)

Messiah Prophet
P.O.D.
Saint

(borderline)   Mastedon
Didn't know Rush was metal, but Rush too....

Queensryche
Slipknot
KISS
Linkin Park
Korn
Pearl Jam
don't really know the others much
Foo Fighters
Rage Against the Machine

That looks like the coolest instrument for an Industrial Metal Band.

Or an EBM (electronic black metal) band.

yeah its a baritone and i have no probs tuning it to A. seven semis down. plus its got a piezo and 81/85EMGs so you can really make use of the extra low end. industrial metal is pretty much what i use it for. i should have some new tracks with it on myspace soon, so stay tuned.

Can you give us the honor of knowing your myspace URLBig Grin?

Woot! I metal list I can surely relate too Tongue. Except for Rob Zombie, I am a greater fan of the White Zombie works Big GrinBig Grin!

You may also like Nevermore, a metal band with a lead singer with a beautifuly trained Operatic (operatic, as in opera) voice. Even with that, they still sound hard. Try listening to 'This Godless Endeavor' or any song off of that album Smile

Dope is a more recent favorite of mine, and you might enjoy them too. The vocalist reminds me of a higher pitch rob zombie, and their overall sound is basicly upbeat metal. Try listening to "Die MF Die", "Motivation", and/or "Now or Never" a listen.

And this post is not just director towards the guy I am replying to. Metal fans should give these two bands a listen Big Grin
