Metal seems to the force keeping me from going totally insane. I have no clue what I would be like now if I hadn't gotten into it. Plus, all my friends have distinctive enough hair that I don't forget who's who.
I've always found it interesting that metalheads are percieved as one of the "roughest" communities of youth, but are amazingly courteous and polite to anyone who's at ease with them. This is amplified at concerts, especially in mosh pits- I got knocked down in the center of a huge pile-up once, and people who tripped over the pile were being pulled back upright before they even hit the ground.
lols at ^ comment on hair
how vital do you guys reckon Maiden where to Metal today?
i heard some sources say they where absolutely vital, others saying not very.
Yeah I am. I absolutely love heavy metal, my music ranges from soft rock to heavy metal.
at a guess you like MCR
do you prefer their earlier or newer stuff?
i personally hated their new album, but Revenge and Bullets were good
The best thing about metal and metal/rock clubs in general is you just don't get dickheads going there and you can have a good night out.
As a scene it has to be the best one to be a part of.

I hate do disagree with you, but I ran sound for bands in the 80's and 90's, and I have to say that the all of the punk shows ( before Green Day and others of that ilk compromised the punk scene) were more like a family gathering, and the shows were rarely plagued by violence.
The metal show that I ran sound for almost always had a couple of dickheads that would invariably fuck things up for everybody else.
like that ijit who threw his beer into the air at a Maiden show
it landed...on the sound board.and destroyed it...
bet he was popular...
I thought there would be loads of metal fans on this forum go with the different theme. As it is I love metal, I go to download festival every year and talk a lot in the forum for download. My fav's are Metallica, Maiden, KORN! (seeing them next month oh yeh!), Stone Sour, Linken Park, Slipnot, Evanescence, Biffy Clyro, Trivium, Pantera, AC/DC, Rage against the machine, Black Sabbath ... kind of lean towards the nu-metal, also like foo fighter's, Pearl Jam, Smashing pumkins and lots of indie stuff. I love all kinds of music, but I love acoustic guitar. Anyone here go to download?

No offense, but only about 5 of those bands actually are metal.
If you'd bother to read my post, I said I also like..... and lots of indie stuff, I am not at my age bound down into any particular genre : I use music as therapy for my moods and hyperacuis. I was brought up with metal, the indies, then grunge stuff and now new metal.
I used to like popular music, but then I became a metal fan in 2005. Some of my favorite metal bands include:
Disturbed
Metallica
Trivium
Avenged Sevenfold
