Erkolos claims:
"Det er faktisk et diagnosekriterie for AS at man har IQ på eller over gjennomsnittet."
my translation
"Its actually a diagnostic criteria for AS that you shall have an IQ at or above the average."
one of Erkolos references
http://autism.about.com/od/aspergerssynd...adults.htm
"..since people with AS have normal or above normal IQs, this is a good place to start."
130 is high
(100 + 130) / 2 = 115
... above avarage
Still not all aspies show exceptionally high IQ, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are less-abled. Infact in families with multiple autistic children the ones with the most complex problems associated with autism often had the highest IQs.
It does however reveal hidden potentials.
I think Erkolos make the mistake of believing that normal IQ equals average IQ. While normal IQ is often reffered to as anything above the diagnostic criteria of MR 70. (I should try to find sources backing that claim up.)
"Although recent data have shown that some children with autism do, in fact, have MR, the rates are much lower than the high prevalence rates cited in the past. Recent epidemiological surveys have shown that the prevalence rates of MR in children with autism is between 40% and 55% (e.g., Chakrabarti & Fombonne, 2001), much lower than the typical rates cited in the literature."
So recent studies says 40 to 55% of thoose with autism (autism means in this article only Kanner) have an IQ below 70.

The above link briefly explains how it was determined in one study that clinicians undervalue the value of HFA's and AS's IQ by some 30 points on average. It also provides another link outlining the study.
It also describes the correct IQ test to use (a new one) with AS/HFA kids, but I can't recall the name.
My daughter tested at 105 about 3 years ago, but I think she is the smartest in our family and our family does pretty well on IQ tests. Her real IQ I tell teachers is probably 125-130.
I dont even understand why you should tell her teachers her IQ score.
More about the same thing, autistcs IQ and wechsler vs raven.
I suppose that thoose raven tests might be a better test for autistic and especially thoose with severe communication problems and lack of general knowledge and so on.
