I have a 11 yr old son who has autism. He is low functioning. I am looking for a special school for him to go too in Texas. I would prefer Beaumont,Houston, or Dallas area. I am willing to go anywhere though. I am even willing to go out of the state of Texas. If anyone has a recommendation please let me know.
We're not ignoring you Larry's mum; it's just you've caught the tail end of the European "shift", who aren't best placed to help with local knowledge. Our US contingent will be with you soon I'm sure.
You might like to repeat your question in the "Parents" section (that's what it's for) in case any interested parties miss it?
I don't know about Texas, but the Department of Education in the state may have information on schools that deal specifically in special education. In California, I went to a school in Buena Park, the Speech and Language Development Center because of delays caused by infant epileptic seizures. Their website is
http://www.sldc.net. You may want to also check with the United Way, since that organization is a huge source of funds for that school mentioned, they may know of a similar school in your area.
There is a good school for Autistic Children in Florida, Orlando. It takes children week days and also boarding. Hope this helps. Scarlet
I am new on here but I wanted to pass on my advice. There is a school for autistic children in wylie Texas. It is called Jeffrey's Discovery, here is their website. If you find anything closer to Fort Worth in your search I would greatly appreciate if you could pass it on!
