I understand why they don't want to label their son as autistic, but still, the "church" their in is only interested in scamming people for money. If you REALLY want to help your kid, then try getting support from family & friends as well as give him some coping skills so he can live in the outside world. If you just go to a church that'll only admit you by you paying, then you've just ripped yourself off.

Well, the word is "gay" but Scientology claims to "cure" the evil sicknes of homosexuality. As to Travolta and Cruise's devotion to Scientology, we can assume they're getting something out of it they desperately want. The Scientologists even provided Travolta with a nice little Scientologist wife rather quickly after Travolta's male "personal trainer" revealed that he and Travolta had been "lovers" for some time. BAM -- he instantly married Scientologist Kelly Preston.

I live for the day when being gay or being autistic are not conditions that anyone would need to hide, and are not conditions that would cause any argument or controversy. The world is supposed to be being run by mature, wise grown-up adults (neurotypical adults, that is). Us autistic people are supposed to be immature and undeveloped and incapable of making wise, sensitive decisions. When I look at all the pointless prejudice, idiotic attitudes, conflict and warfare going on in the world, I do wonder "Just exactly who are these mature, empathic adults who are supposed to be in control of the world?"
Scientology leader, Ron Hubbard, did not cure himself of pedophilic tendecies, he spent the last months of his life in international waters on his ship with a 14 year old girl as a companian. His gay son comitted sucide. How is it that people come looking to this religion for answers and cures?
I don't take anything Perez says seriously, he's a gossip. He makes his living as a parasite of the Hollywood culture. I don't think anything he says about anyone is nice or completely acurate, thats not what he's really about. I think people go to his websight for fun not facts.
To be fair, we don't even know if his son even has autism. The article I read was nothing more than a bunch of self-appointed "experts" diagnosing him via the TV and elsewhere.
Additionally the article read to me as the usual fearmongering piece about how the child will never amount to anything if they don't get ABA or other therapies ASAP to "fix" him.
IIRC, one of the "experts" in the article is from a curebie group.
And while I think that Scientology is a scam and BS, I do hope that the kids have a loving and supportive home....well as normal as you can get in Hollyweird. LOL
When I saw this article discussed elsewhere, one of the things that pissed me off the most were the people acting like autism was akin to cancer. I don't want your pity because autism isn't sad!! ARGH.
Oh and Perez Hilton is a waste of space. I hope the photographers win their lawsuit against him.

There is the possibility that John Travolta’s son has Asperger’s, considering the fact that I am attending the ‘John Travolta Film Camp’ in a few weeks. The day camp specifically invites children on the spectrum, and I remember somewhere in the reading material about it, it stated that either his son or cousin has Asperger’s (the camp is run by one of Travolta’s relatives). However, even if his son does indeed have Autism, ‘who cares’; at least it is only Perez that is making a negative claim, for I doubt most people take the website seriously.
In addition, given that AS runs strongly in families, I would expect that if John Travolta’s son does have Asperger’s Syndrome, the possibility would exist that John Travolta also has the syndrome or traits.

I wrote a blog post about some of the irony surrounding this John Travolta situation and how he is being smeared for not trying to "cure" his son. Of course the real issue is that the curbies want him as one of their celebrity spokesmen. Travolta has a right to his privacy, but if we could get him and/or his wife and/or his son to publicly come out on our side, that would really be great. We need a pro-neurodiversity celebrity.
