Science Digest mentioned latex plugs for Fallopian tubes.

Heck, one in one hundred million chance of pregnancy?

Right, but then if everyone starts applying such an attitude about intercourse (without necessarily using above-mentioned method), and everyone keeps wearing sex on their sleeve, will there be any meaning left for intercourse besides base carnal desire?

Yes I know the world population is a problem, but there has to be some value left in the very act which resulted in all of us being here, in the first place.

Exactly right, and I think all this naysaying and doom and gloom is never going to help us with the real and sometimes serious problems within our society eg. alienation, homelessness, water shortages, and pollution.

It is not so much a matter of the earth not being able to support its population but of resources being unfairly distributed because of political reasons.

Sex is intended for married couples to keep to themselves.

When you're joking, it is helpful to indicate such, either by some sort of parenthetical, like (joke!), or with emoticons Big Grin Wink Tongue

GuessWho Wrote:
Max the Bear, I should have rephrased that as "God intended sex for married couples to keep to themselves"

That's fine if it is relatively easy to find a marital partner. What happens to all the people who are in long-term relationships but do not feel the need to get married? Are they supposed to miss out?

Guesswho, I think those kinds of things can be messy and icky and spoil the romantic moment.

I also think you need to realise that if you get married and your wife would like to have one or more children, she should be able to if she wishes.

If you are dead set against having ANY children, then you really need to find a woman who either is infertile or who doesn't want kiddies either.

Ziyaret Wrote:
Might I add, it seems that Pakrat and a few others think that its a womans Duty to bear and raise children.

Not precisely. If they don't want to have children, they need to take precautions or their partner does (or both of them) BUT once they are pregnant, there are two lives to consider (or more if there are multiple births).

I'm 25 and have never had sex, never touched a girl in any meaningful way.

Yet another reason to hate myself and cite my inferiority.

My list of failures has no end.

I hate when people talk about having sex; if I can't have it, why should they?

Be careful what you say in the company of inferior human beings.  They might get envious, and you might be adding fuel to their already massive heap of self-loathing.  I might be referring to myself here, but I'll let you "guess" if it's not obvious.

Perhaps it would help you to know that 10% of men in Japan between 40 and 45 have never had sex either.

That's not the way we do things in the United States, and when you have a strong biological urge but can't do anything about it, you suffer.

There are certain things that "fan the flames" for me.

I think this aspect of the gender gap hits them more than it hits us.  We probably only think about sex once or twice a day.  They think about it far more than that and have testosterone egging them on - which is kinda hard on a young man if they have a naturally high sex drive - don't you think?

Now you're talking--I think this is what I was leaning toward.

Ziyaret Wrote:
You can have it Batman55. But if you wanna just get laid for its own sake, I recommend that you get an escort or a call girl.

I've sworn myself to not resort to such things.  For many reasons, which I'm not able to detail, right now.

My mind is fogged up again for the thousandth time and I can't find the words, goddamn it.

I do try to get my hair washed at the barber shop and make sure it is a female that does the cutting.  Nice barber shop in the Latino neighborhood.

I said the places was very simpaticas.  Given that the adjective references only women, my intent was clear.

Very clear indeed --  your intent is to exploit the women by getting crypto-sexual gratification from their touching you, thus turning them into involuntary sex-workers at a barber's wages.

Let's be honest about what's going on here: There's nothing wrong with a female barber washing a guy's hair. Just like there's nothing wrong with a kid sitting on the lap of a department store Santa. But if "Santa" is getting some level of sexual gratification from it, that's sick.

Do you inform them that you're using them? Do you tip them the $200 a good prostitute can charge?

Another triumph of christian hypocrisy.

You consider yourself too "good" to hire a sex-worker, yet you essentially manipulate a woman into being a non-consensual sex-worker by setting her up to unknowingly provide you with sexual gratification -- by your sexualizing her non-sexual touch. You think it's sinful to pay a sex-worker, but it's okay to create one against the woman's will.

You should get real and pay a sex-worker just to touch you. You can keep your virginity; she won't insist (believe me) on having actual sex with you. You can get the exact same thing you're getting from the barber, but it will be less exploitational (if not totally non-exploitational) and more honest. And get your haircut from a male.

given that it does not kill potential babies when a woman does it, does that mean that women are not breaking the Catholic rules when they do it?

My guess would be that "the church" had no idea that women masturbate, since they were too f'ing ignorant to even realize that women are sexual beings.

See? This is far more sensible and balanced than all these gloom, woe, and doomsday naysaying that is so common in some circles. Yes, we have serious issues with pollution but as Woman From Mars said, we also have so much waste. There is enough for our need but not for our greed.
If you took matters into your own hands, you might not even need a woman at all.

You know, we have nearly 7 billion people living here on planet earth today, but pakrat and cj: do you guys REALLY think that there would be enough food if there were 60 billion? Or what about 100 billion?? Even If there's enough food being produced to feed everyone sufficiently-No matter How much is produced it will NEVER be fairly or evenly distributed. You see pakrat, out "Greed" is something that will NEVER GO AWAY. The more people you have-ESPECIALLY within the confines of a given country the more economic stratification you have. Dont believe me?Look at India or the US(3rd largest population). People who oppose birth control almost always do so for selfish reasons: either to maximize/increase the population of their own 'group' or because they want more cheap labor and more consumers to sell too. Overpopulation-in one country or the world, is ultimately to the detriment of poor people. In western countries where population growth is low but sustainable, the people enjoy a much better quality of life than nations with burgeoning human growth.

The reason countries such as India have such a high birthrate is because of the high infant mortality rates. Educating women in particular is vital in reducing family size. Educated women usually marry and have children later than others.

I come from Australia, where we are very underpopulated, and am not against birth control completely - just certain methods.

Tong_Duurai Wrote:

Now pakrat, the infant mortality rates in southern asia have rapidly declined starting in the 80s. THAT is the reason for the "population bomb": high birthrate coupled with lower infant mortality.
Africa's birthrate is extremely high but so is their infant mortality which has prevented the kind of population boom experienced by asia.

Okay, but you haven't factored in the results if literacy rates in women were to rise to close to Western levels. Even in Australia, families of 10-14 children were quite common until the depression and now it is rare for families to have more than 3. All along, the literacy rates amongst women have been climbing.

Sadly, women in countries such as India as seen as less valuable than men so I don't see any great chance of substantially improving literacy rates in the near future.
