Wow this guy loves his pictures I must say....he really does love pictures. What's znes?

Anyway here is my modded desktop/Windows XP PC to resemble a Mac.

tenaciouscj, its pretty easy. Have your desktop showing, than there will be a button on your keyboard that says "PrtScn" which means print screen. Press it. Then open paint and click paste. It will put it there. Save it as whatever you like and then go to Photobucket or Flickr, upload it and then post it here.
that's mine:

DocMartin, any chance you could email me that wallpaper - my brother-in-law would love that!

He can download it from here:

There are also other very nice other wallpapers.

Tigger, I really like Mac's setups and I'm used to it now (it was difficult at first). It's running XP, it just looks like a Mac. Believe it or not when I actually used a Mac I knew where everything was because it was so similar.

I guess I'm a minimalist. Smile

Can't tell... using Lynx tonight. Wink

Oh, now you're just being a tease.  Cut it out. Smile

But it's fun to pretend to be geekier than other people. Anyway, if it makes you feel better... I'm only using lynx because my husband is updating firefox so I can't use it. I'm really pretty clueless when it comes to computers in general. Sad

I just joined Photobucket.  Let's see if this works...

The picture is a scan of the cover of the February 1958 issue of Popular Electronics Magazine.  She is tuning a battery powered proximity relay (notice the vacuum tube in the middle of it).  She has adorned my faithful Windows 98 desktop continuously since 2001.

The icons are minimal because the Start Menu is highly organized.

Nice snake design, pikajedi! Where is it from?
This is my WinXP.

Kinda strange way to be "clueless" for someone majoring in AI, don't you think?  Just an observation.

I majored in AI for only one semester... once upon a time. Also, "pretty clueless" means different things to different people... I can think of plenty of people that are more clueless. Smile For someone majoring in AI I'm on the "rather clueless" side though. In general, I like theoretical stuff better than practical stuff... understanding how computers and AI are supposed to work in general is one thing, being adept at using lynx or other programs is something quite different. In a sense I've got a computer phobia... <grin> I'm always afraid that if I try something new I'll crash the entire computer permanently. I really need two computers so that I can feel free to experiment on one of them, but I just can't seem to find the money for a second computer, and now my first computer needs replacement itself. Sad On the bright side though, I don't need my first computer for school anymore because I don't go to school anymore so I don't have to worry about temporarily screwing up my computer, so I only need one
computer to experiment and do stuff on. It's really funny... I majored in AI for a while, which I liked but I got too distracted talking to my (now) husband online for too many hours a day... I majored in EE for a while which I also liked but I hated some of the related stuff such as the advisors and bureaucracy... I've considered majoring in math and/or physics... but I don't dare majoring in computer science... it seems too hard to me. <grin> I've got some hypotheses as to why, but w/e. Possibly something to do with my dad in the past yelling at me and hitting me if I did something minorly wrong on the family computer (nothing serious... he's just nuts).

@ Batman & Marieke: if 'AI' stands for 'Artificial Intelligence', the following quote may help:

Computer science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes.

AI stands for lots of things... my mom used to joke that I was majoring in artificial insemination. <grin> But yeah, in this context it's supposed to stand for artificial intelligence.

As to whether computer science is about computers or not, depends on what you specialize in... there's computer programming, computer engineering (which falls at least as much under EE as under CS), algorithm analysis and design, etc etc etc... I still think I'm pathetically bad with using computer applications when compared to my understanding of how computers work in general etc. For example, I was proud of myself yesterday when I dared press on the 'h' key in hope of getting the help menu and I managed to find how to refresh the screen in lynx. <grin>

How do you get the green/silver XP taskbar?

I've only seen the standard green/blue and the orange/black I have.
