I saw an article in today's paper that was titled 'An advocate for autistic children'. Well, I read it...the person mentioned in the article supports Autism Speaks & NAAR (which owns Cure Autism Now). Talk about an article that's misleading. Articles like these are just another reason why people's definition of Autistic Advocacy is distorted. Another powerful blow from the big corporations. This one especially hurt since the student mentioned in the article (named Elizabeth Boyd) as 'An advocate for autistic children' is from Lemon Bay High School, a school in Charlotte county, which is south of the county I live in (Sarasota County). Then again, this misdefinition of Autism Advocacy wasn't surprising despite being painful.

Yeah, yeah, this here isn't the middle ages, missy!
Norway is definitely not curebie, there are maybe some few who believes in chelation but they apparently think they can get the same effect with diets. I wont consider EIBI (non-voilent version of ABA) supporters curebies, but there are definitely alot those.

there's alot of places we can go...i wonder what will happen if she saw a bunch of autistics when she works in a few years. it's too bad that the sterotype is that we can't go anywhere and that we're hopeless little babies without cures. i don't need a cure, and this will just shut more doors for us.
i don't think florida is autism hostile though, but i'm leaving the state within the next year though (can't find a job here).

Ummmm...well, it's not the WORST state. Surprisingly, the southeast isn't that intolerant. At least I don't live in the midwest. That's where a nice chunk of Autistic murders have happened. Two dreadful and recent examples include Katherine McCarron (Morton, IL) and Terrance Cottrell Jr. (Milwaukee, WI). These were horrifying deaths. Then again, New England is pretty biased, too. After all, Judge Rotenberg Center is in Massachusetts.
