I don't even have one (I know, that sounds crazy). Why would I need one, I don't have any friends I need to talk to or SMS.
I don't have one either because they can be a bit expensive.
I like my mobile I have a Sony Ericsson W810i, it allows me to make calls, send texts, it has a camera and video camera on it, a nice size memory and also plays mp3s and has a radio.
All of that on one little phone - amazing
My mom has been nice enough to pay for my cell phone as part of a sort of family plan. It's a very low-tech one, compared to most--one of the type you can get free with certain calling plans. However, it does satisfy my need for a telephone line, so I'm content.
No. I'm never away for long from those who might need to get ahold of me. And usually, when I'm out, I'm with my sister, who is permanently attached to her cell, so there's one around if I should have to make a call. Highly unlikely, though.

I hate the thought of having to stop what I'm doing every time I hear an annoying ring.
<hugs>

i have a phone that i got a few Christmases(sp?) ago, though it's not turned on. it's a Virgin Mobile phone, so it's Pay-as-you-Go and i need to top up. what i mostly use it for is to take pics of stuff. wish i had free nights/weekends, but that requires a credit card.. -.-

I'm not keen on mobile phones.
I hate the idea of people being able to contact me wherever I am. That being said I was convinced by my wife I should get one for 'emergencies'. Although she contacts me on my phone all the time, asking what time I'll be home, whether I'd do something for while I'm out etc (its very annoying! lol) But I can’t turn it off in case there's a real emergency.
I don't have a very modern phone. Its small-ish (not a house brick). But the ring tone's quite embarrassing (very beepy) I work for an IT company and am surrounded by highly paid techie people (mostly men) who always rush out to buy the latest model. They compete to see who's got the smallest (I wonder what Freud would have said about that?)
That's one reason I'm not too keen on getting one - it would be annoying being interrupted too often. But it makes it hard when there is an emergency if you don't have one. It's a real conundrum. Maybe you could ask your wife to call you only if it's a real emergency, but then I suppose she would say she only calls when it is important anyway.
If I got one, I would get pre-paid and just a simple, basic model.
So would I! I may finally get one this year, just for emergencies though, or for calling back the cab company, while I'm waiting outside my house, to check on whether my cab is almost there. Funny how cellphones are now used against their owners as an instrument of nagging...often on the bus someone's phone will ring, he'll answer it, then a moment later he'll say, "I'm on the bus right now." Then he'll get out a minute later! Some people have no patience at all! This is the downside of people being able to reach each other at any moment of the day or night. Sometimes it's nice to have a few minutes of quiet and privacy while traveling.
Yes, it really annoys me when they are used for nagging...

Of course, the short-term solution to that problem is to shut the phone off, but it seems once people know you have a cellphone they expect it to be on all the time and get angry when they can't reach you...
I am trying to get a telephone which will do multiple texts and which looks a bit better than my current one.
I do need a new telephone, but in order to get a contract (which works out cheaper than pay-as-you-go) I need to have a debit account.
I am a routine freak and what I am working on the moment is putting my daily routine into my telephone so that I can make the most of my time.
I am going to pioneer a daily routine on my current phone and work to that until I have a debit account and can upgrade.
I spend about £80 a month on my telephone, mostly sending text messages. I would be better paying £40 a month on a contract.
The new LG Prada telephone looks really stylish, rather like the new i-Phone which is not available in the UK yet.
However, I think that I am going to buy a very small Sony Ericsson.
I do not need one of those PDA phones, they are too complex for my needs.
I almost never use my mobile phone.
I hardly ever take it with me anywhere, which is unfortunate if there is an emergency of sorts and somebody needs to contact me.
It is almost never charged anyway.
I use mine mostly as a clock and an alarm.
I would be lost without my phone, I need a new one actually, as my current phone is an 8-bit piece of *** nokia 3210, real stoneage stuff,
Very solid phone though and I notice phones in the lates 90s were built more sturdily and tended to last much longer than the ones we have today.
It makes me laugh to think how we used to get by without mobile
phones.
I still get by without a mobile phone....
I can't see how a 3210 would have a data cable though.

LOL, worth repeating.
I have a Virgin Mobile phone, and I mostly use it for pictures and Tetris, though the picture quality usually isn't too good. I actually make a lot of calls, but they're short little calls to my mom or dad to find out where something is or how to do something or something like that. I don't make many social calls; that's what the internet is for.
