Hi Smile

My names Kev. I found the site after Amy posted on my blog.

I'm the parent of Megan a (nearly) 5 year old girl diagnosed with severe (whatever that means) classical autism (Kanners).

I've just been reading the letters from Donna Williams and Dr Baron-Cohen and various other people and its refreshing to see non-cure oriented feeling running so high.

Are there any rules to the forum as such? Where am I as an NT parent allowed to post? I've read the FAQ but its just the standard phpBB FAQ page Smile
Whoops- that was me, forgot to log in.

Wales eh? Not too far away from me. I'm in Staffordshire Smile

Simeon, a member here, works for the North Staffordshire Autism and Asperger's Association, have you heard of it?

I have indeed heard of it Smile

Not been able to attend as its a little too far North for us and we don't drive but I hope to one day.

DJ_Sim: We're actually in Stafford itself and we don't drive so getting to Stoke is a bit of a trek (the 101 bus takes a 2hr round trip to drive 15 miles!!) although I will try to make a special effort one of these days.

I believe you can have a day out to them.

Indeed you can - the 6 towns are mostly within walking distance of each other. Make sure you try the Staffordshire Oatcakes with penty of mushrooms and cheese Wink

Thanks for the welcome ASMan Smile

I think a 'review' of helpful therapies written by autistics would be a great idea. It would certainly help me and other parents 'see' things from the perspective of someone who thinks in a similar way to our kids.
And yet again I forget to sign in. Sorry.
Oatcakes are yummy.  So are buckwheat pancakes.  If any of you guys are ever in Bozeman Montana, eat breakfast at O'Briens.  It's like heaven on earth, plus they sell superb chocolate chip cookies too.  But if you're ever in Pittsburgh, where I live, you can look me up if you wanna be hooked up with Oatmeal Scotchies.  I am in all modesty a GREAT baker.
THat's a pudding with currants or sultanas isn't it???
