We have had a promotional e-mail about a new autism magazine-

"Dear Friends and Associates,

An exciting new magazine is about to be launched! //The Autism
Perspective //(TAP) will be a national, quarterly and full-color
publication devoted to the subject of autism spectrum differences;
persons with autism and those parents and professionals that love, care
for, support and educate them. The all volunteer Advisory board is
impressive, and the magazine will present a positive, upbeat and
eclectic variety of perspectives!
...
TAP is where voices can be heard and stories can be shared…"

Six issues of this magazine were already published. Did anyone read them? How were they?
(their web site is at http://www.theautismperspective.org/ )

How'd you get on the board in the first place?
I've just read their sample issue. I can very clearly see why many people call their reports questionable at best.
Here's what I have to say.

The Autism Perspective is a magazine that seems to be based off of one single, simple principal. 'Report Everything, Endourse Nothing'.

Now normally this is quite an honorable way of doing journalism... very confusing, though honorable.
Now in the case of a magazine about autism, that method may still be honorable, but it is also very dangerous.

The magazine reports on everything from credible, good research, parenting methods and how its like to grow up autsitic yourself, to things like chelation, electroshock therapy, and allot about anxty, depressed, hopeless parental rantings.
Once again, they give no internal opinions about any of these things.

Once again, that may be an honorable way to do journalism, but in the case of an autsim magazine, it's also very dangerous.

Given the state of fear and desperation of many parents of autsitic children, reporting both the reliable and dubious while giving no hint as to whih is which will undoubtedly cause many parents to seek some very unreliable and possibly harmful forms of treatment for their children.
