From season 3, episode 4.  The child that they were referring to had very pronounced (instead of "severe") autism.

Also, later in the episode, House is diagnosed with AS.

I love that clip.

I thought that the notion that House could be AS was entertained on this episode, but it was dismissed by the characters and it was decided that he was not AS but was "just a jerk."

Not sure about Dr. Cuddy, but Dr. Wilson gave the reason that House did not have AS as it would make him "exempt" from the rules.  He knows the rules and that he has to obey them, so I think the whole him not having AS could be disproven.

I don't know. Good episode, though.

I guess it could go either way depending on your own personal take.  Maybe they left it vague on pupose so each person could decide for themself.

I agree the character does demonstrate some AS qualities but I watch his masterful use of eye contact, facial expression, and body language to get what he wants and to intimidate, so I concluded he was not AS.

I think part of what makes it a good show is that his character is very complex and it does leave room for personal interpretation.
LOL... it's not like you can't be both AS and a jerk. I personally think he has too high a degree of social cognition to qualify as AS, though.
Callista, I love your ability to state things clearly and concisely!

That was actually my point but I rambled on rather than making it.  You have a gift my dear.

And of course you can be AS and a jerk.  That was just the last line from the show on the topic.

...And he is always able to speak his mind.
I love the show House. However, I don't think Dr. House has AS. He may be a jerk, but he understands people too well, in my opinion.
As the member Hadasen said.

AS isn't a uniform, we're not all the same ya know.
He's very intuitive regarding people apparently.
Doctors kinda have to be ;p
