Lately I've had thoughts about that it would be cool, to go in an online school, where you chat with your peers through irc (no bullying except words, and I can ignore them technically)...get assignments in .doc or .pdf or any other format, and cooperate in a wiki like environment.
The technology is allready here, so I wonder what is the problem. (although I can't say much since distance learning is allready growing rapidly, I just wish that it would "be here" tomorrow)
And I love that the main reason people implement it is that they won't have any building costs, but just might need extra bandwidth for their site, and education related services.
(this was my wish-come-true thought for a while, but after I researched a bit on the internet I understood that they would not make it , because they wanted to make it easier for me, but they wanted to save money. I also watched a google video of a long interview with 3 people, who've got different opinions)
The interview was about the MIT OpenCourseWare, some online education database of online learning sites, and an author of some book related to the subject.
