Esteemed Peers:
This is a fellow Aspie with an situation needing your input.  I happen to work with the U.S. Army as a civilian employee assisting families.  We have a very large population of autistic spectrum children and parents are seeking information and training on these matters.  It has come to my attention many sources of information and training materials are either:
a) crap
b) snake oil from quacks and charlatans
c) demeaning, degrading, or dehumanizing
d) patronizing to clients or their families
e) promise to “cure” autism
f) render a guilt-trip from a promise to “cure” autism if parents just try hard enough
g) disregard Aspie’s desire to just be unique individuals and left the hell alone

I want to purchase good materials as both DVD’s and books so parents get good information.  Let’s face it – they’ll buy some stuff anyway and this could serve as inoculation to the garbage floating around out there.

My bias is towards serving Aspie’s, but the majority of clients have serious developmental delays and behavior problems.

What materials do you recommend?  Why do you recommend those particular items?  Are there any faults with them?
