Anyone who want's to know about Tim Burton, read his book Burton on Burton, watch Edward Scissorhand's and all his films. I noted that Edward Scissorhand was an image of himself that he created as a teenager, notice the sad bland facial features and note this is Tim Burton. I also noted his poor eye contact in the interview festures at the end of the Edward Scissorhand DVD.
Some say bi-polar is part of the autistic spectrum, in the way that some say ad/hd is, related thing what matter's is whether you have the triad of impairment's and those signs were there as a kid. Tim Burton talks about his childhood in his book, those images that a lot of us would recognise are in his films.
I am a big Tim Burton fan. I love his
work.http://www.timburtoncollective.com/edwardpsycho.html

Maybe he's just insane.
=p
Yeah lol maybe he is just weird. Some say bi-polar is part of the autistic spectrum is this your assumption or do you have proof (link to website or something) I have never heard that before that bi-polar is part of the autistic spectrum.
I am not too sure where I read that about bi-polar, also read about how they look for a history of bi-polar in people they are considering as ASD. Anyway people are people not label's. Tim Burton is a fantastic film maker does not matter what he is or isn't, that his business.
Bipolar? Don't know.
Autistic? Don't know.
*** good director, though. Love all (well - if I'm honest - most of) his movies.

No, no, no. I met someone who I think was Johnny Depp. He asked me if I had Asperger's. I was really shocked. He said that he had worked with Tim Burton. He said it was a great experience for him and that Tim Burton had Asperger's. He appreciated people with Asperger's.
You lucky so and so! Johnny Depp is the man!
Aspergers(or autistic spectrum) is also the latest fad in diagnoses, both professional and amature.Honestly though, bipolar and Aspergers are quite different. Sometimes the are comorbid but more often than not bipolar people show none(if any) of the symptoms of autistic spectral disorders. Many of them actually have good social skills and as I have pointed out befoer-some can be very manipulative which certainly does require *reading* people. But how does the recurrent theme of loneliness in his work indicate the he himself has social difficulties?
Noetic, where did you get your statistics about the comorbidity of Aspergers and Bipolar? One thing I do know for sure is that bipolar disorder is much more common than any autistic spectral disorder. I've read at the NIMH website that 1 in 50 people is affected by it, whereas Asperger syndrome is something like 1 in 1000(the Maximum possible frequency). What I have been told by professionals is that there is an Extremely high comorbidity of Aspergers with OCD-which to me makes total sense. Being an aspie myself and being around bipolar people when they are manic, I would say that the preoccupational interests of aspies is really not like bipolar mania but more like OCD.Many bipolar folks can be scatterbrained when they're manic-almost like people with ADD only more extreme.
Not AS?! You've gotta be kidding me!! I seriously doubt AS is as common as bipolar.Every professional attests that such types of developmental disorders are much rarer than mood disorders. But if you have proof I'd be delighted to see it.
Speaking of that, what I have heard many times is that the offsping of bipolar parents are statistically more likely to have aspergers than parents who are not bipolar nor have any sort of mood disorder.
I have stressed triggered hypomania apparently, a lot of things stress me more maybe than your average NT. There are many types of bipolar it is a spectrum as much as ASD is a spectrum. I geuss you got to remember that (at least in the UK) HFA/Asperger's is a new diagnosis (1994) chances are many people were diagnosed Bi-polar etc without recognising the underlying HFA/Asperger's. Besides they have not done enough research to know what is exactly going on with the brain that causes all these issues. I swear I have had undiagnosed bi-polar 11 for sometime. I had a long depressive period after uni, did not seek help, I smoked weed and drank to deal with my mood. I know this is a big thing in my mum's family, hey most of the women are bipolar and the men alcolholics go figure.
I've come across quite a bit of information (from a variety of different sources) that states that bipolar disorder is more common in people with AS than in the general population.
In fact that's how I came across AS in the first place as I was diagnosed with mild 'atypical' bipolar disorder and was researching the subject.
Bipolar disorder is entirely different to AS but I can understand how the two could coexist, and also how the difficulties of growing up with AS (especially if it is undiagnosed) could lead to developing bipolar type symptoms.
I know that my depressive periods centre around feeling 'broken', hopeless, socially inept, social phobic and feeling completely incapable of understanding and functioning in the world around me.
My periods of 'high mood' involve feeling like a genius, especially in certain fields of expertise, becoming completely obsessed with certain interests and becoming even more self-obsessed and overly talkative. My 'theory of mind' also deteriorates to the point where I believe I am the only sentient person in the world.
It is as though my bipolar type symptoms magnify my AS traits, and also that my AS traits trigger my bipolar type symptoms. Obviously I am not a psychiatrist, but it does seem to make sense to me that having AS would make someone more susceptable to bipolar disorder.
My depressive periods are just like yours i feel not suicidal maybe suicidal ideation but yeah i feek worthless feel broken socially inept social phobic ( i can have this in my high mood which is weird but might be social anxiety i don't know) but when i feel good i feel like i am above people am more obsessed with doing things and i am more taikative. How wouid Co Bi Polar or a milder Mood Disorder manifest in Aspergers as if you have aspergers i suppose so things couid be wrongly contribulated to asperger's.
Its my understanding that the comorbidity of AS and Bipolar is mainly with Type II Bipolar diorder; or Hypomania. Am I wrong? I have heard many times of Aspies with periodic bouts of depression and even periods of anxiety but the Mania experienced among Bipolar type I people seems very unlike Aspergers.

No you are right even if i had bipolar i doubt it wouid be type 1 i can get hypomania though is that unlike aspergers?

Oh I love Johnny Depp. I have heard he had AS too but I'm not sure or not. You should have asked him if he has it or not. Why did he ask you? Maybe because you were showing the same characteristics Tim showed. Only people online have asked if I have AS because of my stories I wrote.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas + Edward Scissorhands = Instant respect for Johnny Depp.
Yeah Johnny Depp's my favourite actor. And Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam are definitely both up on my list of top five favourite directors.
(And I was so frustrated watching "Lost in La Mancha" because that looked like it would have been such a cool movie, eh? -- off topic. Excuse me.)
Bottom line: Depp, Burton, Gilliam -- all cool.
