This is a rather nice little article from New Scientist that made me dance around my rrom for a little while when I read it. First of all, apologies for the fact that you need to have a New Scientist account to read the whole thing.
Basically it's about an MIT group which, according to the article, was drawn together by the value of autistic thinking. The researchers are trying to use emotion-sensing technologies as tools to help auties, but the article spells out the fact that this is meant to be a way of making life easier, not of "curing" something which the researchers in this group see as an alternative mental state rather than a disability. They also mention how autism can be advantageous. In fact, it's so advantageous that they're trying to use the systematic way AS people think to improve the ability of robots to interact socially - as the autistic way of doing this is more logical than the NT way.
