I've recently started to make my own kind of sandwich. On one half I put two slices of mild salami, two slices of tomato while on the other half I put slices of cucumber and some American Dressing. Then I put them together. They taste almost like hamburgers; might be the dressing that does that. I've stopped buttering the bread, which is dark and rich of fibers.
I hate butter on meat sandwiches. I use mayonnaise instead.
I make my own bread. My husband hates sandwiches for some reason and so I do not buy much from the bakery section. Usually I have to bake whatever I want like bread, rolls etc. I miss dark rye bread though. I have never been able to make that too well.
The only thing I can put on my sandwiches are meat and cheese. I can't stand vegetables mixed with animal products (unless it's just like herbs in the bread for seasoning and stuff like that). I've been eating too many Subway Sandwiches lately...
ohmigod! I have such a thing, such such a thing about sandwiches. I eat at least one a day and, other than the occasional croissant (also used in sandwiches) is my only consumption of bread (so I get into the non-wonderbread varieties. Mass produced American bread is awful in so many ways). Shoot, now I want a sandwich because ichtms' sounds really good and I didn't have one for lunch (soup, the other mainstay). I'm going to pick me up some pumpernickel tomorrow and try it. Yesterday I had a traditional NYC corn beef on rye.
I always talked so much junk about Subway then one moved onto my prior job's block that was just zowwee. Everything fresh, clean, nice people and plenty of them so they were FAST. They got to the point they'd have my sandwich started when I walked in the door (line? what line? this is a pick up...I'm really routine about food). Sadly, although there are two within walking distance now, both are living up to my previous idea of Subway.
My kind of sandwich:
Bread/toast
cheese(Norwegia or in emergency gauda)
Garlic
salad
pepper
Put it in the own untill cheese is melted.
fetacheese or tomato when the usual toast get boring.
I like all kinds of sandwiches.
