Probably going to be another "here's timmy, timmy suffers from the crippling disease known as Autism, since he is unable to speak, we'll speak for him, timmy says 'I want to be cured, I want to be normal, I hate what I am', thank you timmy, notice how he just sits there, since he appears completely braindead, let's all assume he is and try to help him accomplish his dreams of being a varsity quarterback, dating the head cheerleader, then going on to law school to become a successful lawer, according to his parents, that's exactly what timmy wants for himself, and Autism Speaks is trying to make it happen".
Oprah? ... OPRAH?! Oh, puh-lease!
Why can't she just stick with inbred rednecks fighting over who gets the biggest share of the profits off the family meth lab? Maybe they can throw some chairs around and boost the ratings.</sarcasm>
If Oprah had a newspaper instead of a TV show, you would find it at the check-out line in the grocery store, between the Enquirer and the Star. It's crap! Okay?! Oh, wait a minute! She DOES have a magazine, and I do believe I recall seeing it at the check-out line. Well, I'll be %&^$ed!
Seeing as I am from the same state she is, that statement better be directed to just her because I am not inbred nor am I a redneck.

No offense intended. I've lived in several southern states, and realize not everyone in the south is a redneck. The statement was directed toward just Oprah and her ilk, more specifically toward the depths those types of shows will sink to to attract an audience. I was in a grouchy mood early this morning when I posted that, and a family fighting over meth lab profits was the first example to come to mind.
I wouldn't advise the chair-throwing. You wouldn't want to see somebody get arrested on TV, would you? That was a reference to Geraldo getting his nose busted back in the 1980s.
This is just one of many reasons I rarely watch TV.
I smell an opportunity (and I'm usually a diehard pessimist). The difference between this and other cure autism campaigns is Oprah has a
message board, which we can join en masse and offer our perspective on the issue, and answer viewers' questions. Technically not illegal, and the worst case scenario is we get the whole thread deleted, and gain nothing and lose nothing (to minimize that risk we just have to follow the
rules). The best time to start would be 4:00 EDT tomorrow since the first airing of the show will be ending. So what do you think? Am I insane, or is it worth a try?
what, something along the lines of,"I am an Autistic, and i can speak for myself."?
gee,and watch the patronisation, belittlement and abuse come rolling in...
ah,what the hell.I'm game if you 'orrible lot are.

Well then, patronize, belittle, and abuse them right back! It wouldn't be the first time that kind of thing has happened on a message board.

GREAT idea!
i second this.
we should ask seven to join the crusade, to represent the true auties.

when is our en masse up heavel going to happen.[/u]
I made it a point of NOT watching the show. (Of course, I rarely watch any TV show.) I'm looking through the messages and, crap, they're up to 800 messages already. I'll just skip to the newest ones. Someone else please fill me in on the interesting bits.
the speed that new postsa are being made,we really need to make a concerted effort to be hea...seen
never mind, that arselicking directory hath crashed
looks like there are some C.A.Nners in there, someone talking about how 'their' community has been trying to get a show about Autism done for years,
