What are the trait differences between Aspergers and Autism?

I thought that sensory issues were one of the things that seperated them but now I'm reading that both have those.  I also thought that high functioning autism was actually another name for aspergers but now I'm hearing that it isn't.

See how confused I am?  Sad

I guess I explained myself badly.

I realize that aspergers is a form of autism, but I'm wondering what the difference is between someone diagnosed as aspergers and someone diagnosed with say, high functioning autism.

Normal language development is common in Aspergers and self-help skills delays are not evident in Aspergers vs. High Functioning Autism, where self-help skills delays and language/speech delays are common.
There seems to be a "very mild version" of AS that is more a personality type than autism, with slight sensitivities but lacking the core autistic trait. Although whether this is a separate thing or covered by "existing" persoanlity disorders (es. Schizoid) is difficult to say.
Personality, even.
