This is how supremacist ideology works. if one class of people is inferior to another, then whatever abuse -- even to the point of murder -- is inflicted on the Inferior is a less serious offense.

And the next step is that it's no offense at all, until finally it is a meritorious act benefiting the superior class.

If killing a human is a crime, then killing someone who is less than human is less than a crime.

This is how the American legal system has always been practiced regarding the killings of black people and gay people.

If you're thinking, "Oh, but it's not really like that," you're a fool.

You set a fine example.

I get annoyed when people say "aw they are just American"! Don't forget that people like this are the very reason America is hated by the likes of people who are just as bad (ie Iran, North Korea and Al Queda!)

Max has a point. The punishment SHOULD fit the crime - and it's not for the very reasons he gave. The woman in this case should have been jailed - in fact I think taking the life of a "so called lesser human being" should in fact attract a BIGGER sentence. Think of it this way - a person (whether it be a coloured person, a homosexual or a disabled person) who have inherently less rights per se has less ability to defend themselves. In theory of course (not in practice - that varies too much). So what SHOULD happen is that to make up that difference, anyone who does the wrong thing should get a harsher penalty. I'm probably not making myself clear here so bear with me - but even in death I think certain rights should be protected. A reversal of the current legal practice - which Max covered - would achieve that quite well.

And it would - in this specific instance - discourage parents from taking the lives of their Autistic children, and force them to seek help for their child and for themselves. And it does exist albeit not quite as much as we would like obviously.
Oh - and I forgot. Where was this story? Was it America? Ray Martin is AUSTRALIAN.
Ah well that's fine then, Australia rocks.

Does he mean they are more difficult to kill, or resistant to ill treatment?

It took me moment to understand that, but I think he's implying that he's tried to drown a few (like unwanted kittens), but that they are harder to drown than 'normal' kids.

Just a troll...

Max - I'm loathe to rattle your cage again, but given that that WW1 killed millions of men, most of them white and many of them upper class, which group is it you insist exemplifies this supremacist stance you keep referring to?  You won't create a better world by redistributing power, or by 'evenhandedly' giving it to other 'groups'.  It *might* be achieved by removing or limiting the power *anyone* can hold over anyone else.

Jiggs, your limited understanding of how the world works is still overwhelmed by your bitter paranoia. Alas, you are still unequipped to have this discussion, and I am uninterested in having it with you. Best of luck in your rage against all the minorities. Now back to troll-land with you.

I rest my case.
Meh people here don't like my ideas and say they're evil Tongue
This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...  Wink
XD

That makes you a part of a mother congregation. I guess we need to invent a special term for the relationship status amongst you.
Hum, maybe I should start to concern about Ian. Cool
Bah it's fair game to me online ;p even age doesn't matter (within reason Tongue)

when one has a child, i assume that one is aware of the massive amount fo committment that one is now in store for when the child is born. autistic or not, it is a commonly held belief that one is in for a serious committment. sure the autism adds an extra, ***, dimension; but if its all too much, then there are other avenues open to you, particularly if you have an abusive significant other. there are agencies that would have an impromptu orgy just out of sheer delight from having someone in such dire need to assist. surely before you look at murder-suicide as your prime option, you check out what help you can recieve.

nah, screw that, its all too hard, ill take the murder-suicide thanks johnny!

but hold the suicide thanks.

so heres the moral folks: life getting you down? mortgage and 2.6 kids ruining your social life. no fear! have a bit of a cry and then hold a pillow over juniours face while hes asleep, youll do 10 months, and then youll get slapped with good behaivour bond. all of a sudden, BAM! friday nights just cleared right up, off to the pub we go!

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm here?

PS Australia is okay, but Ray Martin is an idiot.

"Men, I think, are a far bigger target for over-zealous P.C thuggery. And I notice it's almost always the mother who is given custody over children in a divorce."

Ah, but you'll find that in many of those cases the men didn't want the child, so it was given to the woman.  In fact, there's a huge problem with custody being forced on women who don't want it and/or can't care for the child, just because the man doesn't want the kid either.  If the man doesn't want the kid, it's almost always given to the woman, whether or not she wants it or can take care of it.  That's the current state of things in the US, at least, and in the UK too.
