That's a really interesting thought... and I think you might be right. She very well could be NPD. She's amazing, really... the things she says and does are so bizarre- so insanely conceited- that it blows my mind. I've only ever encountered two people like her before. And someone with NPD would really gravitate to an Aspie, wouldn't they? I mean, to bully. That would explain why I've encountered people like her before.

Hmm.. I think I'll look into NPD. Maybe I can find a weak spot.

Thanks for the tip!!!
I had a similar situation in the U.S. Federal government in 1998, Suitland, MD.

This was shortly before Maryland paid for computer training.  In my current job from 1999 onward, Arlington VA, I have the minor satisfaction of knowing how stupid the Fed woman was, because there are so many good managers around here, you couldn't shout without one hearing.

Amazing how one sticks out like a sore thumb when compared to superior people?

The basic difference is self control.  We can stick to business and be nice.  Unfortunately, self control is optional in many places.

Obviously I have no plans to leave here any time soon.

First career: 1990-1996, social research.  Stood down at advice of Maryland Dept. Rehab Svcs, Nov. 1998. 132 undergraduate and 48 graduate hours, 12 months direct experience.

Second career: 1999- , computer programming, Web development, database design.  22 undergraduate hours.  7.75 years direct experience.

Note: I hasten to point out that planning a research study is every bit as methodical and goal-oriented as computer programming.   A small shame that a good Master's had to go to waste, and the Maryland taxpayers had to suffer along, but this isn't a perfect world.

I have discovered that formal study in the social sciences can provide a back-door solution to coordinating social interaction.   That is because scientific study of social behavior requires written theory and research in English intended for intelligent people to read and apply.  Yes it requires a fully conscious mental effort, and it is slightly slower than an NT's intuition.  But without being able to casually observe patterns of behavior, it is necessary.
Or maybe one day her husband will leave her or she'll discover he's cheating with someone nice.
Dear Solana

Am interested in your posting and would liek to help.

Would it be possible to talk directly?

No matter where you work there is always someone who needs to feel ferior then someone..its sad..sort of like high school...I have it as well...for 7 years. What do I do about it. Nothing..I do my job and know that I am significant, that she has an issue..with herself not with me.
