My current interest is Neanderthals.
I am battling to find information on Neanderthals so I had a slight meltdown earlier today.
Are any of you guys interested in Neanderthals so you could suggest some sites to look at or books to read?
If you go to Amazon .com and enter Neanderthol as a search word, it pulls up 77 book titles

oops yes, i did make a typo. Neanderthal
You should watch the BBC's
Walking with Cavemen miniseries. I found that to be quite interesting, though it does feature many species besides Neanderthals.
Also,
here is an interesting article about a supposed Neanderthal-Modern Human hybrid.
I have actually been in the Neanderthal once. There is a quiet nice promenade through the forrests, and a couple of museum buildings. The main museum building tries to be modern and multimedial which kind of s*cks.

Oh yeah, that was good, eh? I love it when the tribe of Homo Habilis attack the car. (hehe) There's also a TINY bit about Neanderthals on "Walking with Prehistoric Beasts" -- ep. 6.
One good non-fiction book which I read cover to cover is "The Neanderthal Enigma" Can't remember who wrote it, though.
...Or failing that, there are several good fictional / semi-fantasy novels like "Clan of the Cave Bear" -- a good read dispite several inaccuracies.
Wikipedia might have some good links.
Why would anyone censor the word "sucks"? Doesn't make any sense. O.o
Hmm... I'm not that into neanderthals, but I've always wondered what happened to them. Why did they disappear?
The current theory is that Neanderthals and early Homo Sapiens interbred when the latter reached Europe, so modern Homo Sapiens is a hybrid. I'm not sure how likely that is, though i've met a few cave-man types in my life!

Same reason as many creatures disappear, I'm supposing. All you need is the tiniest disadvantage (and perhaps one less birth on average for each female in the population) to make the difference between success and extinction.
At one point, our own species was very nearly extinct, while the Neanderthals were thriving...
Neanderthals? Just try my school, we got loads
@amad though your post was supposed to be a joke - my former chemistry/biology teacher knew a person who had all traits of a neanderthal - ALL, both bodily and mentally. Nobody could explain who it came to it - atavisms is a well-known phenomenon, but not that it appears "complete"...
