Hi everyone. Since I have been diagnosed with Aspergers I have been on the Disablity Pension for the last three years. I would love to go back to work but I really don't know how well I could handle it. I am able to get a job but I just can't seem to keep it. It seems to be that I happen to lose interest in the job after three months of being there. The longest job I have been able to keep in the last 18 years that I have been in the Work Force has been working as a Casual Roadie,Stagehand, Assistant Sound Techie in the Music Industry but the jobs are few and far between here in Brisbane. The other job I was able to hold down for over a year which was the longest time I happen to have held down a full time job was in a SuperMarket in the Fruit and Vegetable section I would still be there now if they weren't taken over by another company and that is the only fulltime job I have ever had. we call the Dole here in Brisbane and did a couple of Work for the Dole courses which didn't really do anything to help me get a job at all until I was diagnosed three years ago with A.S. and then I went straight on the Disability Pension and I haven't been working since. I would love to go back to work but I have had bad experiences with Disablity Job Agencies who didn't really help at all and didn't seem at all interested in personally helping the client at all. I would love to go back to work but who do I go through here in Brisbane Australia who would cater for an Aspie and be really interested in their client getting
a job and on going help and support as you enter a job? and what company would be genuinely interested in taking on a person with a Disability here in Brisbane?.
