I prefer the infinity sign, and if the colours were a paler spectrum, not the bright colours associated with the gay pride flag, it would be good.

hmm, that was the original concept for the AFF logo but we never used it (good thing now - people would definately call us "militant")
I wonder if we made a picture of it, then made it in a format that people could print off, and tape to a stick to wave as a flag.
Anyone want to try designing such a picture?

I think one aspect is that apparently 50% of people on the spectrum also have Irlen Syndrome, which makes it hard to look at certain colours, would a darker spectrum be easier to look at, or would a lighter pastel spectrum be easier?
Anyone with Irlen Syndome got an opinion? Is each person's vision problem unique so it wouldn't matter anyway?

I think we should have vertical spectrum stripes, going from one end of the spectrum to the other, with the infinity symbol.

I love your design Raeth, I also loved one with the letters AFF that had a shiny white background, I think you put it on the old site.
The snake was supposed to be an asp snake originally, for aspies, and biting its tail to create the infinity sign.
At the time people found it hard to create that visually.

Well, I'm quite fond of reptiles and amphibians and other cold-blooded creatures. I don't subscribe to the common fear and loathing of snakes. If you don't bother them they usually don't bother you.
I do like the idea of a 3D motif on the flag, but I think we should stay right away from anything that looks like a puzzle or a paradox, which would bring to mind the stupid stereotype of the autist who is a mystery to all including himself.
The infinity symbol still looks like the best idea to me. What about an infinity symbol that has a spectrum of colours along it's length, on a white background? I could be colourful, utilise the spectrum idea and the infinity idea, but still look different from the gay flag.
