A flag with a black background and a single red "A" would be cool.
No, the "A" wouldn't look like an anarchy symbol. I'm thinking that it would look like a solid, upside down V.
The colors are for the spectrum, right? Maybe you could have a brown or black stripe at one side to seperate the flag from gay bride, and to show that autism is a lot of different colors combined.
A successful flag will  consist of a very simple, bold design in a few primary colours that can be readily  manufactured and reproduced at low cost with simple equipment.

It must stand out in poor visibility, be easy to identify from a distance, and not be readily confused with any other flag or logo.

I had thought of designing an autism pride flag. But I dunno. Do we realy need a flag? I don't want most people to know that I have Aspergers. I guess I am more concerned with learning the skills to function in society rather than being an "aspie" (I realy dislike the term aspie by the way)

I failed pretty miserably at making a good infinity symbol. If someone wants to try using my background, here it is:

I think that the flag should have darker rainbow colors (I don't mean that in a negitive way). What I had in mind was a blue "A" inbeteewn a laural sort of like the UN flag with a red background and a rainbow band on the right edge.

Like this?

I think the darker flag looks better (but as far as I know I don't Irlen Syndrome). Could we add a geometic shape to it (not a pyramid though, that would be too much like the "New Aspie Order" ).
I have a very interesting design. Unfortunately I don't have any knowlege work on the computer.
The design I have is a rainbow coloured bird made up of fibbanoci sequences (1,1,2,3,5,8 ect...) over a mountian. The bird represents freedom, and the mountian represents knowlege and exploration.
A large part of my job is graphic design. I'll help in any way I can but personally I think Raeth's is far and away the best so far.

A few things to note regarding the practicalities of printing:

1 - The more colours you have, the higher the price of a print run.
2 - The more gradients you have, the higher the cost.
3 - The more seperate items you have, the higher the cost.

And from a design point of view:

1 - The less items you have, the clearer the symbology (the idea behind the brand) becomes. Think of the logo devices for brands like Nike or Shell. One idea done really well is much more powerful than lots of smaller ideas.

2 - The idea of the Asp biting its own tail is a good idea for suggesting 'aspie' but isn't this *autistic* pride day? Autism is more than just AS.

3 - The rainbow is an established idea for representing the 'spectrum' of autism but I'd suggest bringing it down to 3 or 4 'main' colours. People will still get the idea that it represents diversity but you won't be flooding peoples minds with lots of different colours - flood the mind and the message is lost.

4 - The logo must be able to scale. You need something that can be reducable to being good on a letterhead and blown up enough to be good on a flag or banner.

5- Think who this logo (text and device) is *for*? Is it to be used as a 'rallying call' to other autistics? If it is then things like Irlen Syndrome and other sensory inputting issues must be catered for - no good to have a rallying call that your audience can't process! Or is it to be used as a means of identification (a sort of 'advert') to both yourself and the NT world? If it is then it needs to be as non-threatening as possible - which disqualifies the snake (especially a *black* snake which correlates to poisonous in a lot of cultures) immediately.

If I could make a suggestion its this - don't worry too much for this particular Autistic Pride Day. Go with what you have. Immediately after it though, start researching possible logos and branding. I can definitely help you with that. I know some of the best brand designers in the business.
I think AFF is less confusing than AAAFF.
Would adding a third dimension work? No flag (that I know of) uses 3D shapes. A Neckers cube would be good. That could represent both solitude and complexity. I still think adding fibbinocii sequence('s) would work well.
I don't think an asp on a flag would ethier (asps are very dangerous, therefore not the best thing to put on a flag). Perhaps a simple flag would be the right idea.
