Dunno if this is the right forum for this.

Tried searching, got lots of hits but didn't find what I was looking for...

Mirrors - the ultimate shiny thing - anyone else have issues with 'em?

I could stare at them for hours. Not looking at my own reflection per se... But there is this thing in there that "mirrors" (hehehe) whatever the heck I do.

Fascinates the hell outta me for some reason. Better than TV.

The angles - the way you can see in past the frame.

Two mirors refelecting at eachother at an angle are even more fun.
If only that setup was commonly found somewhere else besides fitting rooms!

Staring at mirrors makes folks think I'm narcisistic.

If a mirror is present when I am having a conversation, I make eye contact whith the reflection when I speak. REALLY freaks out neurotypicals when I speak to them doing that.

When I DO remember that's my own refelection, it makes me REALLY uncomfortabletho. Gotta keep looking anyway...
Think the general forum is the best if you don't know where to place it. Time Out if it isn't about anything related to autism or similar.

I look myself in the mirror often before I go to bed, can stare at myself for minutes and just think. Also mirrors takes alot of attention from me.
Store windows are good mirrors. I usually watch people by watching their reflections when I'm out walking those streets. Otherwise I use a mirror when I shave my chins or cut my hair.

Though! I have to admit that playing with mirrors is great fun.
If you look closely, nearly any relatively smooth surface has noticeable specular--functions as a mirror to some degree.

Yah. I know :-)

Hate mirrors. They make me uncomfortable. I don't allow mirrors in the room where I sleep.  I suppose part of the reason is the weirdness I feel about my own image. When I use a mirror it is purely functional, to evaluate the fit of clothing or to part my hair. I don't really look at my face.  Since I am faceblind, sometimes I have not realized it was my own face in a mirror in a building that has mirrors on the wall, which is a weird jolt when I realize that image is me.  Due to this disassociation with my own face, once in a while I "see" the face and am startled it has aged. I have an idea in my head what I look like. Seeing the image objectively in a mirror now and then can be upsetting. We all need our illusions. :-)
I have a big mirror in my room which I often times find myself talking to my reflection while listening to music. Even the bathroom mirror.

And using a mirror to look around a corner is cool too!
I love them, apart from checking myself out It drives me crazy that they don't have they're own image, that they only reflect. What does a mirror look like without a reflection? If there's no light then it dosn't reflect but then it's the same for everything you see.
I adore looking at reflections, not necessarily of me, but of reflections.
Interesting, Silky -- my Aspie boyfriend is the same way -- hates mirrors -- and he also has a considerable degree of face blindness. I always thought that odd -- if I were as cute as he is, I'd have twelve mirrors in every room.

Awwww what a sweet thing to say. You have a lucky boyfriend Smile

I know alot of NT's who hate mirrors, well all my NT mates really dislike them, I was the only one who didn't.
Actually, I'd really like to know why I look fine in the mirrors but all washed out and fat in the mirrors at shopping centres. I mean, they are supposedly made out of the same materials so why the big difference? You'd think that shops would want mirrors that would make shoppers look good so they would want to go there more often.
