I am thinking about what land the woman came from, maybe some land with lack of human rights. And maybe it all was a joke from some crazy vandals (just saying it, eatherly it may should have been taken more seriusly). was the information about that the girl hadnt any opinion actually from the chatroom. Things like this I often want to know in cases like this.
That girl doesnt need a hysterectomy, her mother does. preferably with no anesthetic.
Quite so - even though I didn't know I was autistic when I had my 2 children, I still would have wanted children even if I knew I had autism.
I think it is also very inappropriate for a 10 year old to be sterilised. They cannot be capable of making a lifetime decision at that age due to having diminished reponsibility.
Cosmetic surgery is a little different - I think if you had a child who was continually being tormented because they had large, sticking out ears or something like that, then it would be appropriate for the parent to make a decision to get them plastic surgery as it would likely improve their quality of life.
That woman needs mental help.
I don't think it is legal in the U.S. for a child, even oen who is severely disabled, to get sterilized against their will.
As for the omother who claim it was all about menstruation, I say, BULLSH!T!!! That is simply not the issue here. Because if it were, there are shots that can take away the period entirely and render the person temporaily infertile.
These sick people masquerading as parents have no concept of "self ownership" in the context of someone else's rights.
And whether or not you or I would or wouldn't midn having this done, at any age, is irrelevant. The bottom line is that a parent has no right to ask for or to try to influence their child towards sterilization. I think that poor girl shoudl be given to someone who will truly love her. Her mom clearly doesn't.
I agree Chamoisee, it's totally shameful that this child could have been influenced to be sterilised at such a young age. There's plenty of other parents who would have cherished this child.
I have heard of a case similar to this. The girl had a phobia about blood and her parents were afraid of how she would react when she started menstruating. A surgery is too extreme a solution. Maybe she should be removed from her mother's care. Some adults with various problems do need to be put into diapers and have some help with personal care. Menstruating is not such a big deal. If there is a problem with blood phobia or fear she will be assaulted and become pregnant (a crime itself) then she could be given some form of injectable birth control. However, birth control hormones can give some people side effects. So she really does not need birth control unless she chooses to be sexually active herself. The problem is the mother and her lack of wanting to give her daughter the care she needs. There is no reason for a 10 yr girl to have an unnecessary surgery.
Exactly, and surely no reputable doctor would even agree to such surgery anyway.
The doctors (in Canada) wouldn't perform a hysterectomy on my cousin at HER choice. She has severe Epilepsy, and at 19 years old, she went to the doctor to talk about having children. She wants to have children, and with someone else (a husband) around in case she has a seizure, she'd be able to care for a child. But, her epilepsy is so severe that she can't go off her medication for long enough to carry a child. The medication is bad for the baby, and stopping the medication is life threatening to her. She wanted a hysterectomy to prevent an accidental pregnancy. They refused, telling her she'd want kids later in life.
To ask the obvious question, how could a person that horrible ever get a child?
Subatai, I'm afraid that lots of stupid, selfish and objectionable individuals have children. There's no way of stopping it without infringing on their civil liberties. It's a pain though.
I find it horribly depressing that a jackass mom and a jackass dad(assumption, seems logical though) could get together and have a unique, different, wonderful gift and just try to smash it like a stress ball to make up for their own problems.
Yes, and there are so many examples of this - eg. Susan Smith's 2 beautiful boys (if she didn't want them, why didn't she give them to a relative rather than drowning them?).
Why not? A humanity test, see if these people have any morals at all.
But who would you get to do the test? That is the hard question. I don't know if this is the case in other countries, but since the Child Support Agency was introduced into Australia in 1989, there has been quite a number of incidents where non-custodial parents have taken the kids and done away with both themselves and the children to spite the other partner.
This is terrible and how could anybody do this to innocent children? I can only think they must believe they have run out of options in life but why bring the kids into it?
And wasn't this whole thing done for the mother's benefit and not the child's. Some people just don't deserve to have children.
