Big Grin new books to try... George and Sam by Charlotte moore, The curious incident of the dog in the nightime byMark Haddon and running with walker by Robert Hughes. Just wanted to share these with you all as i can highly recommend them. They are all about children with Aspergers and Autism. If any one has read them please let me know what you thought, it would be nice to get to know some of you out there. ( i am a mum with a ASD child who also has learning difficulties who is 4yrs) anyone else in the same boat????!!! Big Grin
I liked "Curious..." however did not relate to it a lot.
I also read "Curious...", it was very interesting and I could relate to some of the situations the character was in but he seemed more HFA than Aspie.  It helped me understand how my son feels (5 year old HFA) since he shows more autistic traits than I do.  It's not a story that I would read to my son though, because of the swear words.

I just finished reading "Buster and the amazing Daisy" by Nancy Ogaz.  The story is about 5th Grade girl who is bullied by her peers but when the teacher lets her take care of the class pet, a rabbit, she befriends the former bullies.  There was a lot more to the story but that is the general idea.  It was written by a mother of an Aspie son.  She did a wonderful job of presenting AS issues in a positive light.  This book is a great tool for teaching Aspling peers about AS.  It is an elementary level book and can easily be read aloud.  I have read a few books about children with AS but this one is the best!  I hope you get a chance to read it, I know you'll enjoy it. I've read George and Sam and Curious....

I thought Curious was a good read but nothing more. George and Sam I liked a lot although i didn't agree with everything she said.

I really liked "The Curious Incident...." but haven't read the other books yet. There was some talk of a sequel to "The Curious Incident" but I don't know if anything came of it?

I read "The Curious Incident...." and cried a lot. It was almost like reading my autobiography - not the specific incidents, but the way the lad thought was exactly the way I thought as an adolescent. I gave it to my Aspie son at 14, he thought it was excellent and identified with the boy too. I was horrified when NT friends told me that they had thought the book was funny!

I'll see whether I can find the other books recommended on this thread. Thanks for them, everyone.

Non-fiction, I would recommend 'Martian in the Playground'.
I've read George & Sam, I liked that a lot particularly as my son is quite similar to George.  I've read Curious too but haven't read Running with Walker.

I've read a lot of books, amongst my favourites are:
Martian in the playground by Clare Sainsbury
Through the Eyes of Aliens by Jasmine Lee O'Neill
Women From Another Planet? by Jean Kearns Miller
All Donna Williams books
