I'm interested to know what kind of wierd thing have happened to you as a result of your Asperger's? I'll tell mine first... I should say... I'm looking for "happy, light and funny" stories... nothing that will make me sad. (Not that anyone would know! ha ha ha)
I was at restaurant with some new friends, still trying to fit in. I went to order my meal and before I could pay the cashier (who I'm assuming was new) left to go find the manager. Then he told the manager in a loud whisper, "You know that thing you told me about, that's her." Then they looked at me for a second and the manager grabbed a cowbell and started ringing it... First off, those things are loud in a very bad way... Second off... they rang the bell and then stared at me and smiled these horrible goofy smiles "You're the 100th customer today!"... I had no idea what to think and it completely went past my expectations of what could go wrong ordering lunch. All I could do was stand their staring back at them, wanting like hell to scream and run away, but my new buddies were behind me so I couldn't do that... So after what felt like hours of goofy smiles at me they turned around and started working again... [Aspie note: Was I suposed to do something different? How do NT's do surprised again?] Anyway, I asked the cashier what that meant and he said I got a free lunch. Happy me, shoulda ordered something more expensive!
