I have been fascinated with the clouds in my tea for years and I've been video taping them so I can watch them over and over again.
I made a slow motion video with music to try to capture the feeling... most people seem to think I'm a bit weird for this... can anyone here appreciate it?

Thats really good, your video reminded me of Jupiter.
I also like to watch it when that happens but it is very rare that I get to see it because I put the milk in before the water for some reason. It doesn't happen that way round.
I can see how it would remind you of Jupiter.
I'm fascinated by all sorts of fractals in nature - when similar patterns are found in small and large places.
For instance, the chlorophyll in the ocean looks like the cream in tea too:

Here's an other fractal like image... I took several photos of a tree, looking up at it from the ground. Then I photoshopped it to look like blood vessels.

Yeah, I liked the tea video a lot...and your tree pic is beautiful...thanks
Thanks energeia.

Thanks Sarah!

I think I like these so much I might be looking for more such things...
Your red tree thing looks really cool.
Beautiful is the only word I can think of to describe your tea-movie.
This reminds me of "Gin Capy". A glass cup, pour some gin into it, then pour cream into it and look at the clouds (You're absolutely right! That's what happens; Clouds! Never thought of it as clouds before). Gin is kind of thick and so is cream too (I use a cream containing 40% fat). Then pour coffea into the cup. The heat of the coffea subdues the taste of alcohol but enhances the taste of the gin.
I tried to recreate something like this in a shop today. I saw a bottle that had two seperated layers, I picked it up and turned it upside down and they started mixing which looked really good, then I dropped it and it spilt down the aisle so I ran away.
This is awesome!! I'm so glad others can see the beauty that I see. *happy sigh*
Bob: *L* 'run away... run away..."
itchms, that reminds me of a drink Guinan served on Star Trek NG... some sort of 'sunset' that when you mixed it just right it would light up in all these cool colors.
That was very impressive, I enjoyed it. There was a nice mix of blue, green and white, it looked very nice. Neptune was right.
I added both videos to my Favorites before reading this thread!
I subscribed recently, after watching "The Lifecycle of an Amaryllis Flower".
I think that like cream in tea, any heavier liquid being poured into a thinner liquid will cloud beautifully... I also like the idea of trying a variety of colors of liquid rather than simply altering the colors of the video.
Right now I'm experimenting and putting other animation into the clouds by overlaying it on the tea video with high transparency. I can't get the right balance or perhaps I'm selecting a video that isn't ideal... I'll let you know when I post something I'm happy with.

3cl, nice ones!
silky,

Haven't heard about that Cosmic Dust... wonder if it's still available. Hmm...
