I'm quite well co-ordinated once I manage to memorise the right sequence, and I've been quite good at some things like the high jump and pole vaulting (although mixed laterality meant I kept running into the pole more often than not because I couldn't tell which hand I wanted to have at the top of the pole and which side I felt most comfortable jumping past it on).
I have a lot of problem with manual dexterity, especially in the week after my period I often have to use my left hand to make my right hand do things and to make my fingers grip, and vice versa. Moving my fingers can take enormous amounts of willpower in those times. I do have lax joints especially in my fingers (not so much in my wrists) and my hips, which I believe plays a role as well.
I can avoid being clumsy if I concentrate slightly on not being clusmy. But if I have to do something else too, I can't concentrate on both tasks and that is when things go wrong. I drop stuff, slip and trip over things, or walk or knock into things.
Being clumsy and co-ordinated is definitly part of AS.
I'm constantly walking into things, dropping things I'm carrying, falling down stairs, even tripping over absolutely nothing a la Barbra in Night of the Living Dead. I'm a lousy driver, even allowing that I've only had a permit for about six months and am inexperienced. However, I'm not sure whether I'm innately klutzy, or whether this is because I tend to be too absorbed in my thoughts to look where I'm going. I have weak ankles, so that might have something to do with it too.
Is it just me or is syncronizing other's movement something else than using basic movement instincts. People with autism tend to suck at both. Mirror nevrones is related to being able to syncronize other's movement, mirror nevrones is believed to be different or absent in people with autism.
I am terrible at syncronizing movements and I walk slower than pretty much everyone which is probably due to my walking technique.
I'm good at driving, riding my bike, swimming, etc... But I can't dance or play sports at all.
When I use the colour dark room at college, I always forget to look for the lights, and just walk out into darkness and hit the walls and I never learn my elsson.
Hahaha, I do this too. When I have to go out at night to pee or something, I never want to turn on the lights somehow, and yet I always bump into stuff.
yes its an aspie thing. I should say its an autism spectrum thing since PDDNOS's can be clumsy too and auties.
Not really i was very good at football never been clumsy at all guess i am lucky.
if i cant see my feet i feel i'll trip over them.
Soccer-(gross motor skills) Im excellent at, i play for #4 team in my state so i rock at this set of skills
handwriting(fine motor skills) uh..i dont wanna talk about it, LOL
I'm mainly clumsy when nervous or trying to do too many things at once.
Gross motor skills are good, handwriting is … readable

. And I can imitate karate kicks just by having seen them - they work. Watch out, bullies

.
I'm beginning to think my son has more dyspraxia traits than aspie ones - but there is some crossover.
From wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyspraxia
Part of a continuum of related disorders, dyspraxia is also known as developmental coordination disorder, and may also be present in people with autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia and dyscalculia, among others. Dyspraxia is described as having two main elements:
Ideational dyspraxia
Difficulty with planning a sequence of coordinated movements.
Ideo-Motor dyspraxia
Difficulty with executing a plan, even though it is known.
i am clumsy when walking (hm,feel like i have typed this prior..) and am always bumping into things,or tripping over the paving.but get me infront of a computer or something electrical, and i can be very deft and nimble
