Very nice site, I love it!  I am interested in attending a German course abroad. I have come across sprachreisen england, cursos aleman  alemania and Learn German language. Can anybody give me some more suggestions, please? If you are interested in learning languages, this is also what I would suggest: academia ingles. Madrid  . Wink
Languages in this day-and-age is being ravaged by English just so that TOURISTS could learn the language. There's actually controversy over the changes and additions to the language itself. I don't speak it sadly, but I say that German should remain German, and not cater to the lowest-common denominator tastes of American tourists.
There are controversies in many countries and I'd fight if it would get really worse.
But I'm not really the person to complain. I started thinking partly in english sometime ago because I like it. Smile

If you are interested in IT you are maybe interested in heise, it's a german IT news site and it offers security articles also in english. I've never read them but some of them seem to be about the same topic.

Have a look at the official website of the German foreign ministry's "learning German" offer.

Anyway - if you want to learn German properly and fast, the best program you can use is Rosetta Stone language software - it's used by the U.S State Dept for visiting officials.

Good luck,

Paula

Have you ever read Mark Twain's essay "That Awful German Language"? It's really funny.

He did study some German before he wrote it!

He must have studied a fair bit of German, seeing as he had a go at translating Struwwelpeter!

The bit about putting off the verb for as long as humanly possible particularly stuck with me.  When in doubt, it's actually not a bad rule-of-thumb.

His essays about Wagner are also well worth reading (bearing in mind that Twain made several trips to Bayreuth).
