I have been told that lot of aspies don't meet the AS DSM-IV criteria but are diagnosed with it anyway. I was diagnosed with it when I was 12 but didn't quite meet the criteria. So it should have been PDD-NOS but one of my online buddies told me he still thinks I have AS and I told him I didn't meet all the requirements for it so that's when he told me. So I'm wondering who else here doesn't quite meet the criteria but has the AS diagnoses anyway.
Heh, it's quite opposite with me, I don't have the diagnosis but I meet the criteria
Yeah, same.
I was diagnosed with PDD-NOS in 1991 at age 11, having met the criteria of the DSM-III.

AS did not appear in any diagnostic manual until 1994 (was this when the DSM-IV was introduced?), and I was diagnosed with AS in 1996 at age 16.

Tim
