Many forums that bash Autism don't really warrant speaking to as they're just in it to bash people and people getting uppity is exactly wat they want.

But that forum looks better adjusted and that is a very good approach - I might have to take some hints there myself when explaining to other people in future ^-^. Society generally feels it doesn't have to "change" for anyone, so it's probably better to just insinuate that, and stress that the main problems ASD "sufferers" suffer from are not symptomatic, but stem from their treatment by society as a whole

If that is made clear, then the NT's should "read between the lines" that if Society if the biggest problem, society needs adjust it's attitude. Whereas telling people they need change society comes over to them as obtuse.

But that is all small cheese, it's a good way of approaching the subject. Just be careful who you approach with it =p

I don't think you'll get much more luck out that person since they are 100% convinced that Autism (And ADD and ADHD) are caused by vaccines and since they read that on "teh internets" it must be true.

People form their own world views and they arn't big on adjusting their's even if it's proven to be completely false (See example: Religion)

I know it's a curebie board, but the thread itself is not a curebie thread.  So I think we should have an unbroken link to the thread.

If you want to present some evidence to White Shark of "past era Autistics" remind him about Changelings, Eccentrics, Savants, Hermits and the like - Past literature if full of references to such individuals which modern psychology would most likely place on the Autistic Spectrum.

Hmm, so it's OK to say how annoyed you are that your autie kid wouldn't wear a wool sweater and you struggled with him for five hours so now you're tired and you wish you could send him away for good. But apparently it's not OK to say stuff like, "Hey, I'm autistic, and I'm OK--I just wear cotton".

Did you get a warning before you got banned? Curebie boards can be awfully anal about rules and things; but if they at least warned you not to debate on the Support forum....

Anyway, I can remember doing a board invasion once; it was fun at the time and we did manage to turn the board we invaded around, however it was just temporary and soon both boards closed.

That was Kiss fans, who to me are the most childish and rabid of all music fans. XD
