Well it labelled me an "Artisan", so it's a crock of crud, basically!
At best, I could be fairly described as a practical/realist artisan, but better as a "Rational" (their definition) without the control freak aspect. I suppose that pruning it to just four categories is in any case a gross oversimplification.
I understand that Keirsey's work is based on Jungian MBTI, but he couldn't use the name or the technique exactly because it is copyrighted so he altered it.
When I did an MBTI test I came out as an INFJ. I have read many descriptions of INFJs such as the ones
here and
here. I basically agree that I am INFJ but some of the traits are way out, especially now I know about AS.
The test I did is
here.
I recently found out that our managers are using MBTI at work.
"i don't think a book can tell you what you are."
Well said

Good grief Amy, can't you do the quote thing yet?
Hey sweet thing, I don't like to go public on how much I liked getting together with you and Gareth, but I will anyway!
similarity is variable. we all evolve at changing speeds and in different directions. sometimes we meet in the same spatial and temporal location.
sometimes it is good- sometimes not.

It seems like a damaging generalization to say that a whole group of people are the type to get drunk when stressed. But I suppose the tests have to work in generalizations, a bit like astrology.
I took that test ages ago, can't remember what I had. If I get some free time I might try it again.

I'm an inspector guardian. It was only half accurate. I'm not a very practical person at all, I'm absolutely hopeless at pragmatics and common-sense stuff. And I don't have any particular fondness for old things over new things, I just go with whatever's most efficient/best for the task at hand.
Rational NT stands for iNtuitive Thinker.
I - introverted
E - extroverted
N - iNtuitive
S - Sensing
T - Thinking
F - Feeling
P - Perceiving
J - Judging
I am NT in both senses.
The whole system smacks of pseudoscience in my opinion. "You behave like this, therefore you will behave like this."
Perhaps it's that I don't fit entirely into any one type. I read INTP and think that's me. Then I read INTJ and think that's me, sometimes, too. Then I read ISTJ and ISTP and ENTP and get really confused. Maybe I'm a mixture of all of those, but why bother? I'm always me. Two letters seems a more efficient description.
It is no different from identifying with a starsign. useful when one is feeling lost from oneself. but very limiting when you are perceived by othr people, for example employers and other people who may have influence in your life.
we often react to how we are treated. if someone treats us positively then we may respond positively. it works both ways.
what if an employer decides they do not get on with INTP's ?(or whatever the letters are). A person already has ground to make up.
i am often told i am a J person by a friend of mine. But she decribes herself as a very P person. So in comparison to her i am a J. In comparison to someone else i will beb different. i hope I am that flexible.
I very much enjoy reading my starsigns and behave often as a pisces. But it is entertainment. I am sure i behave like a Taurus at times too. At least no one is going to take starsigns so seriously as to limit my job opportunities. Learning about oneslef should be fun not confining.
A sad example of excessive categorisation is DSM, which lists various disorders people have by number. It is a controversial topic which is so saddening that I have decided to try and laugh about it by creating some sort of game out of it.
Does anyone have any ideas? i have never made a game but I had the idea of throwing dice and moving around a board collecting and discarding various problems, by landing on squares containing some expensive or public health system professional, who asks questions which you, as the player have to answer.
Depending on what one wants in life ( the game) then your answers would get you a diagnosis or personality traits or not and you would carry on round the board like this until you die or win or i don't know what yet.
How do you win the game?
How do we win the game?
I guess we each have to decide what we are.
