I am looking at setting up a support and social group where I live for people with Autism and Asperger's, along with ADHD and Dyspraxia. There isn't one at the moment. There used to be one consisting of parents but they don't have they conditions and besides, it doesn't exist anymore. There are MIND, MACA for the mentally ill and Mencap and Day centers for the learning disabled/Down's Sydnrome. Could anyone give me advice on setting up such a group. Thanks? Kevin

Hi Kevin and welcome to AFF.
What area of the country are you living in? We may have a member or members in that area that you could team up with.
If you want to start a local group up we can give you advice, I'll pm you.
I founded a group like this in 1993 and several more since. If you call my publisher, Future Horizons, ask for MaryLee and tell her you want my handout of guidelines for starting and running ASD peer-run support groups.

If you need help on dyspraxic/ADHD groups as well,
http://www.danda.org.uk has local groups in several locations around the country, for all NDs, but they focus on dyspraxia.
If you call my publisher, Future Horizons, ask for MaryLee and tell her you want my handout of guidelines for starting and running ASD peer-run support groups.
To save us limies the expense of an international call, can we order your handout online? Cheers.
