Hello

I have home-educated my son for the past four years . He was daignosed with Autism ( HF) when he was 12 . Prior to that I was a secondary school teacher for 25 years .
Life outside 'the system' has led me to reflect on what goes on in the name of 'education' within it . There is a free download on the topic of 'personalised education ' on http://www.aspergersolution.com .
Please have a butchers - let me know what you think .

Regards

Kevin
Hi, i am coming from both sides of the fence, as someone with a diagnosis and a teaching certificate.

Although i think my school probably does a better job than most, due to the high level of aspies in the place (about 2 in each of the 7 year groups - at least), there is a huge issue with training.

A great many teachers either badly misuse the term or are entirely ignorant of it. the rest, like me, jst feel entirely out of depth in terms of adequately providing a worthwhile experience for aspies.

At least once a day, something happens that i would have hated myself at school (and i'm not talking about the torturously long lunchtime), and so i know that once again i have failed.

i have not taken the whole article in yet, but perhaps your points are more valid that current marketeering thinking would have them be.
