I love analysing disasters and trying to find ways to prevent human loss when they occur. I work for a database that documents the 2004 tsunami (will give link if anyone's interested). I would be very happy/interested to know if anyone has the same special interest!

Thanks,
Will
Spontaneously, I would say that if the continuing on-site education about such a low-risk disaster like the tsunami, would be a little more organized so that enough people know the first signs of the tsunami. From what I have learned in the aftermath of the Dec262004 tsunami there were places where nobody knew what to make of the sudden ebb so people would rather be drawn to the beach to view the phenomena. A tragedy a few days ago in Sweden were a young actress "allegdedly" committed suicide (she was a tsunami survivor), raises the issue of those that can't survive the rest of their life and for example develop ptsd, which is something that can pop up years after.

Note! I have No idea of what the actress might have suffered from.
Hello Ichtms!

I would definitely agree. There were many places where not one person had the slightest idea of what the sudden ebb signaled. However, as you may know, during the 2004 tsunami and other tsunami events, some locales did not experience and ebb large enough to be seriously considered or noticed, and some locals did not experience an ebb before the first wave(s) at all.

Thanks
Will
