My English teacher when I was 12 told the whole class that I was 'unintelligent and immature' because I fidgetted all the time and couldn't look him in the eye. He was very dumb and so was his comment. it sticks with me though.
Yeah, I had a math teacher who said, "You know I don't think you're as smart as you think you are" (at the time I just wasn't good at math). I hate how some teachers who make comments like that.
DNEB. I hate teachers that make comments like that.
My Cousin, at a family barbecue: "Ian why do you speak so posh?"
Me: "because its how I was brought up."
A friend "self help is the best help".
Me (thinking to myself) - "so that means if I help myself to whatever I want, that is the best type of help there is....hmm, I thought that was stealing and stealing is wrong...?????"
Counsellor - "If you don't change, you'll always be depressed".
Me (to myself) - "But I do change every day so that should mean I won't get depressed".
I saw Rainman. What is 24 x 56? Why can't you do that in your head?
Another one I really hate is "you're just imagining things" and another one still is "you just need to relax more" (*true, but if it were that easy, I wouldn't be tense in the first place). Another one still is "you have to change to fit in". If I can't be myself because some shallow minded people don't like it, too bad.
On the other hand, if somebody I respect says there is something that I do that puts people off, I will do my best to fix it up. That's not the same as just making the blanket statement that I HAVE to change.
Yes, what they fail to realise is there are different types of intelligence and just because a person does well on traditional IQ tests does NOT mean they are good at dealing with social situations and/or sensory overloads.
I suppose you could have said, "I want to live until 70 and not die of lung cancer from those coffin sticks".
I didn't realise it was considered necessary for goths to smoke and have seldom or never seen them smoking.
dumbest comment received to date: "Are you over your ***'s yet?"
"I'm sorry to hear that," when I told someone I'm Aspie.
Why? Why are you sorry? I'm not. I'm very happy to be Aspie, thank you very much. @rsehole!

I sometimes am kind of afraid, if someone said they're sorry I'm Aspie, I might fly off the handle. Like, start ranting and raving about how I'm not the one who needs pity.
One of the stupidest comments I got from a counsellor was "you know what you need to do to help yourself". Well no, I actually didn't, and what she was suggesting was totally impractical.
I think Friends is a load of drivel: ditto with Sex In The City. They both represent what is so wrong with Western society these days. At least Sex in the City was a bit wittier about it.
