Someone asked me "Where's Ken?" once because people think I look like a Barbie doll.
Someone else said that I had Tourette's just to insult me.
My ex said that I use AS as an excuse to be lazy and anti-social.
Um...no I dont.
other greatest hits from her are:
"It's ok, i know you're slow."
"I read up on AS. you have the mind of a child so I have to speak to you as if you are one."
"You will never be at my level."
She also said I just use it to get attention.
Now why would I want attention when I spend most of my day trying to be invisable?
I even told her that I like just being invisable and she goes "that's not normal. that's a childlike way of thinking. it's sad and pathetic."
One day she is going to have a kid and I hope he or she is autistic.
This one was to my brother, from my mom, about my dad: "He's not an insomniac, he just doesn't sleep much!"
And I get the "You're left handed?!" one a lot too

No I don't think so. I think those comments are loaded comments designed to catch Miss NZ out. It is a common practice here to bait someone in this style and one that you must resist all attempts at falling into the set trap and giving a real answer. Some BS answer is what is expected. Sarcasism directed at the perpetrator is what is expected.
I have seen this in action many times. He or she who doesn't cotton onto it immediately is marked for bullying or exclusion. The girls here are even worse. They'll even try it on a teacher. It has been tried on me as well. Sir, ... is looking up porno on the internet instead of the assignment. Really, sure you aren't doing it for him instead of your assignment? (OZ sarcasism)
So true Saft. They know the answer (or what they expect you to say) so stuff 'em up by denying them the obvious answer while making a sarcastic joke of it. they soon tire of it. They are just looking for a victim.
Saft, takes a lot of practice or an Aussie to train you. Its endemic here. The smart arse comment. Why do you get so emotional? You want to see me on a bad day, watch out.
Well she did ask about the white house. She should have realized her mistake. Should have asked where is the White House that is the seat of American Democracy or whatever. Teachers do have to be very careful not to put in ambigous questions. In Oz a smart alec would pipe back to the teacher "well there are a lot of white houses around here, which one is it miss?"
I rest my case your honour a house that is painted white is a White House
