Hi, I'm new here, and wanted to say I would love to be involved. I am a writer and have experience with newsletters (I did a weekly on-line newsletter for Lupus patients) and blogs as well as articles. I would be interested in helping any way I can!

"On-demand publishing" is one sign of a vanity press, and you have to be careful with those; it seems like a good idea until all your money is gone.
I believe http://www.absynthemuse.com has some articles on the dangers of vanity presses if you'd like to read more.

Being a member at the aforementioned website, I can use their forums and I can ask advice there about how to set up an e-zine, if that's what people are agreed on doing first.

I suggest we start a thread where writers can submit the work they want published so our submissions comittee can all see & read them.  All replies to the thread would HAVE to be submissions; the submission comittee can share their views of the piece via PMs, and then notify the author of acceptance or refussal via PMs as well.

What do you guys/girls think?

There are several publishers that I would stay away from, but iUniverse has been fantastic, and every author I have ever spoken to that has used them has had nothing but a positive experience. I researched for years before deciding to go from traditional publishing to iUniverse, and have not regretted it once.

My publicist runs a very successful e-zine as well, I could ask her help.

As far as doing this in e-zine form is concerned: it would really be worth finding the extra cash to put it on an ad-free server...I'm no techie, but I've never seen a free server that wasn't riddled with ads....

I'm crawling back to a web presence after a long hiatus (gosh, it's changed!)...so I'm ignorant.  Exactly what sort of cash are we talking about for a modest start now...

couple hundred?
couple thousand?
more?

This is a great idea, I actually really like the name Autizine, although some might confuse it with autozine. Its a great way to show off our individual talents and combine them to make something great. I'm all for it and I'd like to help.
I would love to contribute.  I am not a writer, but I have a few photos that I'm really proud of, and I paint and draw a lot.
