I've been nursing a little idea about some kind of a book of works by all of us. Artwork; drawings, paintings, photographs, poetry, prose, declaration of obsessions (with or without a presentation of the person). The book would contain original work in the language it was first written in + a translation/interpretation to english and why not autlang. It could also contain presentations of Autism, Aspergers and the other spectrum conditions that plague us + info on where to searh for more information.
The book could also hold a CD with recordings by us that are into making music.
The proceedings should go to AFF.
Hmm, my vision was that contributors would appear with their name and mugshot; a face as non-emotional as possible or laughing their face off sort of. Well, it's only a vision yet, but along the lines of Pride.
There's something called "print on demand". My vision goes like this. While the contents is the same regardless of where the book is made its covers could be different. In a country where the population speaks spanish, information material would have to be in spanish. Same if it would be sold in Japan or South Africa or Israel.
The downside is that I'm a complete NooB. There would have to be some kind of board of editors spread world wide to look at the material and discuss it among themselves as well as with the contributing artists.
Quote: a thing of beauty is a joy forever... Keats.
I really like the thought of combining things that aspies are good at into one product which could represent them.
That's the basic core of my idea...
The book would become so thick you could kill someone with it.
Perhaps it would be best if I stick to publishing my manga seperately.
Wait! Maybe we could start a weekly magazine called Autizine or something, where people can submit their works by chapter! That would be better than a giant homocidal collection of autistic works.
Mmm... Something like that first idea - or even a periodical - sounds like a good idea. The only problem I see is that we are really such a dispirate community - who's volunteering to organise such a project?
Me.
...Really. I'm pretty good at editing. Unfortunately I cannot yet use a publishing program (except for LaTeX, which is for math); but I'm good at learning to use programs as well, so I should be able to learn easily.
I don't know much about "publishing" music and art, though, except for greatly appreciating both. I think someone else would have to head up those "departments".
"a giant homocidal collection of autistic works"
I just love that title!!!! (I am quickly becoming a Meylon's fan).
I like having fans. Join the thong.
Err, throng. (Damn typos)
I wish this thing had an edit button.
But man! Thong! xD
Like a literary editor?
I could contribute some writing (commissioned or otherwise.) I could do some art and layout except that I don't really have a lot of technical know how online.
I could draw a comic strip, but I'm not all that technologically ept (I mean,
at all ) and don't have a working scanner. So if it were to be an online thing, I'm unsure as to how I'd get it up.
Otherwise, I could do an opinion column. I have lots of opinions.

I think there should be a group of 3 or 5 people (a cross section of female/male, young/old, etc) discussing the material sent in by contributors. These people could also brain storm on ideas, themes and keep in contact with contributors, making invitations to people on or outside of the spectrum to write for a column to name just a few; Andrew Vachss, Alice Miller, Tony Attwood, Christoffer Gillberg, Lorna Wing...
I'm smiling! The loose thought that I had from the beginning has grown wings and is taking off & the sky is no limit...
Wouldn't at least one moderator have said so by now if it wasn't okay?
So did anything ever come of this?
My hat's going nowhere. S'pose I was just curious, really.
