I was bored so I read a lot of articles about breastfeeding. (Don't ask why I chose breatfeeding as a subject. I don't know.)

I think I discovered a way to burn calories without actually exercising. Mature breast milk happens to have full nutrients taken from the food the mother has eaten, so a mother can get rid of 500-600 extra calories just by breastfeeding. Since stimulation of the breasts without a baby is possible, I guess any female can burn calories without actually doing anything, unless they're too young to produce milk.

Also, I didn't know this could happen, but apparently males can apparently experience latation too.
O.O That's really wierd, Meiloyn...

Uh, yes it is. You can find a lot of weird stuff on wikipedia.

You can also find alot of lies that somebody has put there for a joke.

I like to read random articles from Wikipedia. Once in college I decided to read about blood, and the next week we started doing blood in Biology. I was very informative during that week.

Yeah, I don't think the male lactation thing is really true.

What a coincidence. I just read some stuff about blood recently. Then moved to browing through the 23 pairs of human chromosomes. I can barely understand it. xD

Actually, some males can really lactate.  It's weird, but it's been known to happen.  Because sometimes, just out of irony, some men's breasts will develop (like a females, but won't actually really get anywhere).  It's a weird world, but that's just how it is I guess.
I think burning calories while breastfeeding was mentioned in one of the episodes of the sopeopera Frustrated Women(or Ladies?). It was this mom who breast feeded this six year old boy. Her co-operatives got annoyed and one of the main characters were going to get rid of her. The mom had many arguments for breastfeeding the six year old boy, like the child would have higher IQ and that the mom didn't have to excersise.

The main character's solution was to give chocolate milk to the boy and he then suddenly wanted something else instead of breastfeeding.
Funny that. I copped a lot of abuse for breastfeeding my older daughter till she was 7 1/2 but she is a beatiful and bright girl. Her sister fed till nearly 3 and they both weaned one Christmas.

Years later, I am still lactating slightly and am not sure why that would be happening. I read somewhere if a mother dies, other females who've ever had children can lactate to breastfeed (even grannies).
heh I just read that article last week. I don't really know why.

Then it lead me to the article on suckling as an erotic act, which personally strikes me as a little odd. I'm lactose-intolerant anyway...

But someone try that and see if it works. Of course you'll have to make sure you don't eat any more than you usually do.
It does seem kind of weird breastfeeding at seven and a half. (I was off breast milk at 2 months - but maybe that's too early.)

Oh yeah. And Wikipedia is Wikkid. It's the only good source of information I can get in this town!!!
I think lactose-intolerant generally refers to the lactose in cow's milk. Still, I could be mistaken.
Perhaps search "lactose" on Wikipedia?

I know that some animals make more lactose than others, and this is what makes intolerance more common among certain species. (My cat is lactose intolerant too.) Although human milk is sweeter than cow's milk, I seem to recall reading or hearing somewhere that it does contain less lactose.

TELL ME ABOUT IT! I've found so many weird articles on there that it doesn't even surprise me anymore. An article on Anti-Barney Humor is on there. THAT IS SO MID-90s! Who even does that anymore (or at least to the extent the article describes)?

Can I really rely on the wikipedia to convey reliable information?
They do try to verify as much as they can, but with so much input I would doubt that they can get to everything.

Most of what I've read / seen on Wikipedia so far seems sound enough. I suppose anything that sounds totally unbelievable is worth double checking for sources.
