I hope this doesn't mean they're closer to curing autism...
not necessarily.  "Restoration of fully functional MECP2 over a four week period eradicated tremors and normalized breathing, mobility and gait in mice that had previously been fully symptomatic and, in some cases, only days away from death."  This is what the treatment did.  I think getting rid of tremors, getting normal breathing and being able to walk properly again might be beneficial to some people.  But the experiments in no way show that they are curing autism, or anyone's thinking.  -- then the experiment was done on mice.  do I think like a mouse?
